Just a quick summer update from The George’s Flower Shop 🌿

If you happen to stop by or call on a summer afternoon and find the shop closed early occasionally, this is why.

Summer is traditionally our slower season, and like many small businesses, we sometimes adjust afternoon hours while working on deliveries, seasonal projects, preparations, and a few homestead projects of our own.

We are still here and happy to help! 💐

If you need flowers, gifts, plants, or delivery assistance:
📞 Call or text us at 478-231-1330

Otherwise, you can always catch us the next business day beginning at 9:00 AM, and we will remain open until at least 2:00 PM.

Thank you all for continuing to support local, family-owned businesses. Your support truly means everything to shops like ours. ❤️

Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures whose love, sacrifices, guidance, and strength shaped not only our families, but also The George’s Flower Shop itself ❤️

These photos hold generations of memories, traditions, and women whose influence still lives on through all of us today.

Today our shop is closed as we spend time with our own families celebrating the mothers who helped make us who we are, and we hope you are able to do the same.

From our family to yours, Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, memories, and time spent with the people who matter most.

Before the world believed in them, someone’s mother usually did first ❤️

Before Abraham Lincoln became president, he said, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”

Before Thomas Edison became one of history’s greatest inventors, his mother removed him from school after teachers claimed he could not learn. She taught him herself and encouraged the curiosity that changed the world.

Before Martin Luther King Jr. became one of history’s most influential voices for civil rights, his mother taught him that he was just as valuable and worthy as anyone else in a segregated world.

Before Elvis Presley became a music legend, his mother Gladys encouraged his love of music long before the world knew his name.

History remembers the famous names, but behind so many people who changed the world was a mother encouraging them long before anyone else saw their potential.

And the truth is, it is not only true for famous people.

For many of us, the person who shaped our work ethic, compassion, strength, humor, faith, determination, or ability to keep going through hard times was a mother, grandmother, stepmother, or mother figure who loved us enough to help mold us into who we are today.

The world may never know all their names, but their impact lives on through the people they raised 🌸

Take a moment this weekend to appreciate the women in your life whose love, sacrifices, encouragement, and belief helped shape the person you became.

Resharing this video from 7 years ago because unfortunately this still happens every major flower holiday.

I ordered flowers from one of the heavily advertised online companies to compare what was promised versus what was actually delivered. The arrangement arrived 3 days late, looked nothing like the advertisement, and was nowhere near worth the price paid.

A lot of consumers do not realize that many of these companies are not actual florists. Some are simply order brokers taking a large percentage of your payment before passing the order to a local shop with a reduced budget. Others are essentially drop shipping mass-produced or lower-grade “cull” flowers instead of premium fresh product.

That is one reason arrangements can end up looking smaller, older, or completely different than the photo used in the ad.

At The George’s Flower Shop we use premium flowers and make arrangements in-house with real designers who care about quality and reputation because our name is attached to every order that leaves the shop.

This Mother’s Day, support local florists whenever possible and make sure your loved ones receive what you actually paid for.

Did you know Mother’s Day corsages have been a tradition for over 100 years? 🌸

The tradition began in the early 1900s when people started wearing flowers to honor their mothers on Mother’s Day. A white flower was worn to remember mothers who had passed, while red or pink flowers celebrated mothers still living.

Over time, corsages became a beautiful way to show love and appreciation, especially for church services, family gatherings, and Mother’s Day dinners here in the South.

Today, giving a corsage is still one of the sweetest classic Mother’s Day traditions. A small gift that carries a lot of meaning 💐

At The George’s Flower Shop we are proud to continue that tradition with fresh Mother’s Day corsages handcrafted right here in Swainsboro since 1937.

Call early to place your Mother’s Day orders for delivery across Emanuel County Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th.
