❤️ Chapter 9 — The Hardest Speech I Ever Gave

From My Heart… To Hers — A Father’s Wedding Diary

And then they handed me the microphone.

I’ve held a microphone thousands of times.

I’ve stood at weddings and watched fathers speak about their daughters. I’ve played the music while families laughed, cried and celebrated.

But this time, I wasn’t DJ Imran.

I was Aleena’s dad.

I looked at my daughter sitting there as a bride, and suddenly the speech in my hand felt much heavier.

I talked about the day she was born.

I talked about the beautiful, kind and strong woman she had become.

And I talked about something very few people could fully understand — the nine years Aleena spent by my side building DJ Imran Entertainment with me.

Those long weekends.
The drives to weddings.
Setting up equipment together.
Solving problems together.
Coming home exhausted together.

People saw a father and daughter working.

I was collecting memories without realizing one day I would miss them this much.

Then I looked at Ali.

I thanked him for loving my daughter and asked him to keep her smiling, support her dreams and always treat her with kindness and respect.

I welcomed his family into ours and thanked them for welcoming our greatest treasure into theirs.

And then came the part I knew would be difficult.

Aleena was leaving for another country.

I told her that no matter where life takes her, she will always be my little girl.

That our home will always be her home.

That her mother and I will always be one phone call away.

I even said:

“I know fathers aren’t supposed to cry…”

But the truth?

I was going to miss her.

Not only the big things.

I was going to miss the ordinary things I never thought I would have to miss.

Having her around.

Our weekends.

Our drives.

Working together.

Simply knowing my daughter was nearby.

I finished the speech. I made dua for Aleena and Ali and wished them a lifetime of love, patience, happiness and barakah.

That was where my prepared words ended.

But apparently…

my heart wasn’t finished.

I looked at Aleena and said:

“پکچر ابھی باقی ہے۔

زندگی ابھی باقی ہے۔

بہت کچھ دیکھنا ہے۔

بہت کچھ سیکھنا ہے۔

مجھے میری بیٹی کے بغیر جینا سیکھنا ہے۔

مجھے میرے علینا کے بغیر جینا سیکھنا ہے۔”

“Picture abhi baqi hai…

Zindagi abhi baqi hai…

Bohat kuch dekhna hai, seekhna hai…

Mujhe meri beti ke baghair jeena seekhna hai.

Mujhe meri Aleena ke baghair jeena seekhna hai.”

And maybe that was the real speech.

Because everything I had written told my daughter how much I loved her.

Those last few words told her something I hadn’t been able to admit even to myself:

I knew how to raise Aleena.
I knew how to protect Aleena.
I knew how to work beside Aleena.
I knew how to start my days knowing she was there.

Now…

I had to learn how to live without having her beside me every day.

And the hardest part of the night was still ahead.

❤️ Chapter 8 — My Princess, A Bride

From My Heart… To Hers — A Father’s Wedding Diary

The night before was Mehndi — music, laughter, dancing, happiness everywhere.

But this night felt completely different.

And then I saw Aleena walking in…

My little girl.
My princess.
A bride.

I have called her my princess since the day she was born. But seeing her that night, looking absolutely beautiful in her bridal dress, took me somewhere I wasn’t prepared to go.

Everyone around me was seeing a beautiful bride.

I was seeing every version of my daughter at once.

The little girl I watched grow up.
The daughter whose face had been part of the beginning of almost every day of my life.
And now, the woman standing beside the man with whom she was beginning a whole new life.

I looked at Aleena and Ali together and I was genuinely happy. Proud. Grateful.

But a father’s heart can somehow hold two completely opposite emotions at the same time.

I was celebrating her new beginning while quietly grieving the ending of something I wasn’t ready to let go of.

It wasn’t that I was losing my daughter.

I knew that.

But life as I had known it was changing.

The thought that I wouldn’t wake up and see her every day… hear her voice somewhere in the house… have those ordinary little moments that you never realize are extraordinary until they’re about to become memories…

I can’t explain that feeling in words.

So I smiled.
I watched her.
I tried to take in every second.

And then someone handed me the microphone.

I had spoken into a microphone countless times before.

But I had never held one as the father of the bride.

And now… I had to somehow find the words.

To be continued… ❤️
