A little floral witchcraft. 🖤

When we were asked to create a floral installation for a witchy gathering, I imagined a worktable hidden deep in the woods, where everything was still growing.

Moss-covered rocks, trailing ivy, hellebores, and branches brought this little world to life.

Next year’s garden starts with looking back at this year’s.

Before you forget the little details, ask yourself:

• What was my favorite thing I grew?
• What would I skip next year?
• What bloomed especially well?
• What struggled?
• What do I want to plant more of?
• What would I do differently?
• What’s one thing I want to improve next season?

These are exactly the kinds of things that are so easy to remember now…and surprisingly easy to forget by spring.

We’ve tried A LOT of different tools for dividing dahlias, and these are hands down our favorite!

Dividing dahlia tubers can be tricky, especially when they’re packed tightly together. These snips are thin enough to get into those tight spaces, strong enough to cut through thick connections, and have incredible leverage that makes the job so much easier on our hands.

After trying so many different options, these are the ones we keep reaching for!

Did you know daffodil bulbs should usually be planted about 2–3 times as deep as the bulb is tall?

For most bulbs, that works out to around 6 inches deep.

Plant them with the pointed end up, give them well-drained soil, and let fall do the rest.

If you're planning next year's cut flower garden, this is one thing I would absolutely recommend.

I've been using the same flower netting for THREE growing seasons, and it's one of my favorite ways to support tall flowers without individually staking every plant.

Zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, snapdragons... it makes such a difference when those stems start getting tall!

Did you know there’s a really simple “hand test” for flower arranging?

Hover your hand over your arrangement. If you can touch all the flowers at once, your blooms are probably sitting at the same height.

Varying the heights and depths gives an arrangement much more movement and dimension.

The secret to beautiful, airy flower arrangements? Sometimes it’s what’s happening underneath the flowers.

Chicken wire is my absolute favorite floral design mechanics, and here’s why:

1. It gives stems support without sacrificing that loose, natural movement.

✌️It’s reusable! I can pull it out, clean it, and use it again and again.

3. No floral foam required.

I promise you, once you start understanding floral mechanics, arranging flowers becomes SO much easier.

Last year I tried five different tools for dividing dahlias, and these scissors were hands-down my favorite.

They’re incredibly sharp, the thin blades can reach deep into tangled tubers, and they’re strong enough to do most of the work so your hands don’t have to. And if you’ve ever spent an afternoon dividing dahlias, you know your hands will thank you.

If you’re dividing dahlias this fall, these are the ones I’d reach for first:

Some people see a vase. I see an opportunity to give Medusa a floral makeover. I am who I am. 🐍🤷‍♀️

I bought this bust vase with one very specific vision in mind: Bells of Ireland: Snake Hair. I’ve been ridiculously excited about this arrangement ever since.

I made her months ago when the Bells of Ireland were blooming, but I’ve been saving her debut for spooky season.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks these flowers were practically MADE for Medusa.
