Booking a wedding professional can be overwhelming. So many choices and so little information to base decisions upon.
Here are a couple of quick points to help you, notice the ORDER of these as you read them.
1. LOOK FOR EXPERIENCE with weddings, preferably at the venue you have chosen. These professionals have learned from doens, if not hundreds of weddings about the things that can go wrong, and how to avoid trouble. Moreover, how to minimize the problems when things do go wrong. Experience is the MOST important key.
2. READ THE GOOD AND BAD REVIEWS- Notice how they handle themselves when problems arise. When you work with humans, there will be problems. How does this vendor handle adversity?
3. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THE COMPANY AND THE SPECIFIC VENDOR- This will give you some key insight.
4. SPEAK WITH THEM ON THE PHONE- How do they carry themselves in a conversation? Do they allow your to speak? Do they want to know about YOUR vision for the perfect day?
5. LOOK FOR RECENT PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF THEIR WORK- Not all vendors are good at this, but it will help you visualize.
6. COMPARE PRICING WITH OTHER VENDORS THAT ARE SIMILAR- don't compare pricing with inexperience. Don't compare with poor quality equipment. Running a Pro wedding business is expensive, if they have real experience, they will also have pro equipment. Ask your vendors about what they bring with them.
7. ASK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY CANNOT SHOW UP- Do they have a backup plan?
8. NEVER PAY A VENDOR IN FULL UP FRONT- This leaves you with no cards if they bail on you. We have seen many good vendors get in too deep and lose their grip on the business. Not all bad folks, just bad circumstances or bad decisions. Keep some cards.
