Faul Family Riverside Farm

Faul Family Riverside Farm At the Faul Family Riverside Farm, our goal is to provide local, healthy and sustainable food for our community.
(1)

We practice regenerative agriculture to heal our land using animals. As natives of South Africa, our family firmly lives by “ubuntu,” an African concept that means “I am because we are.” To us, the concept of ubuntu is a way of living - and a way of farming. It guides how we understand family, our community and our environment. We believe that just as individuals reach their fullest potential in t

he company of others, so do we depend on our natural environment to thrive. Our farming practices are grounded in principles of mutualism, continuous replenishing, and sustainability. We find joy in new technology and techniques that allow us to give back to the earth while providing healthy and delicious food to our community.

This winter, we’re trying something new for the sake of our land 🤍
You’ll see Andre putting out round bales across all of our pasture fields—this is part of a method called bale grazing.

Instead of keeping our cattle on just one or two “sacrifice” winter pastures, we’re continuing to rotationally graze through our other fields as long as weather allows. By putting out hay where the cattle will eat it, trample it, and fertilize naturally, we’re:

• Returning nutrients directly to the soil
• Improving soil health and organic matter
• Reducing damage to winter pastures
• Giving our land a much-needed break before spring growth

We’re also being very intentional about when we put hay out—waiting for the driest days or for frozen ground so we can move through the pastures with the tractor without causing unnecessary compaction or damage. Caring for the land means thinking ahead, even in the quiet winter months.

It’s slower, more intentional work—but stewarding this land means giving back whenever we can 🌾
We’re excited to see how these pastures respond come spring.

Did you know where your shrimp comes from matters—A LOT?

Our Kentucky-raised shrimp are harvested fresh, which means you’re getting more nutrient-dense seafood compared to shrimp shipped thousands of miles from overseas.

Here’s why that matters:

• Higher omega-3 quality – Shrimp naturally contain omega-3 fatty acids that support heart and brain health. The fresher the shrimp, the better those fats stay intact.
• No long-term freezing or preservatives – Imported shrimp are often frozen for months and treated to prevent spoilage, which can degrade nutrients and texture.
• Cleaner protein – Our shrimp are raised without antibiotics or chemical treatments commonly used in overseas operations.
• Better mineral retention – Fresh shrimp are rich in selenium, iodine, zinc, and B-vitamins, all of which are more bioavailable when seafood hasn’t been repeatedly frozen and thawed.

The result?
Sweeter flavor, firmer texture, and shrimp that actually nourishes your body—not just fills your plate.

Kentucky raised. Farm fresh. And worth tasting the difference. 🌱🦐

Good morning from Riverside Farm!

Happy New Year! We hope your new year is prosperous and filled with new opportunities! We are excited to embark on our 9th year of running this farm business and for the new opportunities and challenges this year will bring. Whitney and I feel so thankful and fortunate to be able to run and manage this farm business and we thank you for supporting us and allowing us to do so.

With the new year comes some changes we need to make to ensure that we can still run this business successfully. Since we started our website ordering in 2018 we set our free home delivery minimum to $100 and it has remained there ever since. As our business has grown our time has become more valuable and we feel it is necessary to raise our order minimum to $150 to qualify for free home delivery. We didn't take this decision lightly and we hope you understand why we needed to make this change. Costs for everything has been and is going up and we are just trying to keep this business running as best we can. We've absorbed plenty of price increases from our feed mill and meat processor but at some point we have to make the decision to increase pricing to remain viable. Thank you for your understanding!

We brought in plenty of pork last week and added the new Mango Habanero Bratwurst to the website! We also added plenty of pork chops, boston butt roasts, spare ribs, bratwurst, bacon and pork sausage. We still have some beef cuts left as well as plenty of ground beef. We harvested plenty of medium sized shrimp yesterday and they are available now under our frozen saltwater shrimp item tab.

Orders placed before midnight tonight will be delivered tomorrow. UPS orders will go out on Monday's and Tuesday's of each week.

Hope everyone has a great week and thank you for your continued support of our family farm!

Our shrimp are raised right here on our Kentucky farm — not overseas, not in polluted oceans, and not in crowded pens.

We raise shrimp the same way we raise our beef, pork, and poultry:
🦐 clean water
🦐 low stress
🦐 premium feed
🦐 full transparency

Farm-raised seafood gets a bad reputation — but not all farms are the same.

Our shrimp are raised in spacious tanks, in carefully mixed saltwater using high-quality minerals, and harvested fresh before going straight into the freezer.

Today we harvested 100 lbs, and they’re ready for your freezer this week.

If you believe in clean food, local farms, and knowing where your protein comes from — this shrimp is for you.

Good morning from Riverside Farm!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week and enjoyed some time with your loved ones. We had family come in from Boston and New Jersey and it's been great getting to spend time with them and taking things a bit slower when it comes to farm duties. The weather definitely made is more enjoyable as well as we had 60's and 70's before and after Christmas!

The response to beef being back in stock has been huge! We still have beef left but its going fast, certain cuts are going faster than others but that is expected. We also restocked pork chops, boston butts, pineapple teriyaki brats and regular brats. We hope to pick up the mango habanero brats this week and get them added to the website.

As 2025 comes to an end we take some time to reflect on a year full of ups and downs. We started the year worrying about the farm to school program that was cut and what we were going to do with the extra product we already planned for and scheduled. Thankfully, our wonderful customers came through and supported our school donation drive, our farmers market booth and our online ordering system. We also picked up a restaurant account which really helped move some of the product that was destined for the schools. It all worked out and we are so thankful that it did. We look forward to 2026 with new challenges and opportunities to grow this business we work so hard for!

We are back to our regular delivery day after changing it up last week. Orders placed before midnight tonight will be delivered tomorrow. Due to new years falling on Thursday we will delay UPS shipments until Monday of next week.

Hope everyone has a great week and Happy New Year from all of us here on the farm! Wishing you a prosperous 2026!

Good morning from Riverside Farm!

The weekly email comes to you a day early today, think of it as an early Christmas present! Due to Christmas Eve falling on Wednesday we have moved our delivery day to Tuesday of this week to avoid us having to run around all over town on Christmas Eve.

We have restocked our Grass-Fed Grass-Finished Beef on the website after a long wait! We also added new items including Beef Tallow and Primal Ground Beef. Be sure to check out the website with the updated items and grab some for delivery tomorrow. I will also be restocking our pork items this morning after I grab it from the processor. Be on the lookout for more pork chops, boston butt roasts, regular bratwurst, pineapple teriyaki bratwurst and a new mango habanero bratwurst! I will add those as soon as I get back from the processor this morning.

Thanks to your generous donations we were able to drop off 150lbs of pasture-raised meat to Highpoint Ministries in Lagrange last week. Those items will go to feeding folks that need a little extra help over the holidays. Thank you for making this possible, we are very grateful for your support!

Final note on deliveries, we will be delivering tomorrow, Tuesday, instead of Wednesday this week. UPS orders will be pushed to next week, we don't think its safe to ship meat during Christmas week! Thank you for your continued support of our farm!

Hope everyone has a great week and Happy Holidays from all of us here on the farm!
