Faul Family Riverside Farm

Faul Family Riverside Farm At the Faul Family Riverside Farm, our goal is to provide local, healthy and sustainable food for our community.
(1)

We practice regenerative agriculture to heal our land using animals. As natives of South Africa, our family firmly lives by “ubuntu,” an African concept that means “I am because we are.” To us, the concept of ubuntu is a way of living - and a way of farming. It guides how we understand family, our community and our environment. We believe that just as individuals reach their fullest potential in t

he company of others, so do we depend on our natural environment to thrive. Our farming practices are grounded in principles of mutualism, continuous replenishing, and sustainability. We find joy in new technology and techniques that allow us to give back to the earth while providing healthy and delicious food to our community.

What a weekend at the farm. 🤍

We want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our very first farm tour and dinner of the season on Friday evening. It was such a special night filled with wonderful company, meaningful conversations, and a table overflowing with beautiful local food.

A huge thank you to our friends at Boxcar Acres and Lawson Family Farm for providing such gorgeous produce for the meal, to my sister-in-law for baking fresh sourdough bread, to Rowlett’s Milkhouse Creamery for the incredible butter, and to our family and dear family friends who poured so much love into preparing such a spectacular meal for everyone gathered around our table. We truly could not do this without our community. 🌿

And thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday to support our farmers market. Seeing both familiar faces and new ones each week is one of the greatest joys of this little farm life. Your support means more than you know.

I wanted to share this photo I was able to snap yesterday of one of our pasture-raised chickens proudly carrying around a bug snack 🐓🐛, I thought it would be a good time to share a little educational tidbit too. We’re often asked if our poultry is “grass-fed.” Unlike cows and sheep, chickens are monogastric animals, meaning they do not have multi-chambered stomachs designed to survive on grass alone. Chickens are natural omnivores and thrive on a varied diet — bugs, seeds, clover, grasses, and plenty of foraging while on pasture — but they also require nutrient-dense feed to stay healthy and well nourished. That’s why we supplement with high-quality non-GMO feed alongside all the goodness they naturally forage here on pasture. Healthy animals always come first here on our farm. 🌱

Thank you all for continuing to care about where your food comes from and for supporting local farms like ours. We are grateful for every single one of you.

Good morning from Riverside Farm!

We asked for rain and we definitely got what we wished for! Over the past week or so we have received around 9" of much needed rain. This rainfall was ideal as it came down gently instead of a few massive storms. Gentle rainfall absorbs into the soil instead of rolling right over it, allowing our pastures to store more water and grow more forage. Pictured above is the path our first batch of chicken tractors made as they moved through the pasture. They put down a lot of nutrients for the soil and the dark green grass and clovers coming up is evidence of that. We are getting ready to move our cows to this spot, the grass here is packed with high quality forage!

Our first farm tour and dinner is this Friday, May 29th. For our first dinner we will be grilling our delicious Bone-in Pork Chops along with veggies from our friends at Lawson Family Farm and Boxcar Acres, both Henry County produce farms. We look forward to taking you on an in-depth tour of the farm and explain what we do and how we do it. The full menu for the evening is pictured as well. The weather looks like its going to be beautiful! We still have tickets left, please visit our website to get yours and join us for a wonderful evening!

Just another week and a half and we should have a full restock on beef! As we build our herd these breaks in beef inventory will become less frequent, thank you for bearing with us as we grow our herd. Raising high quality grass-fed grass-finished beef takes time and patience and we are learning a lot along the way! We remain fully stocked on Pasture-Raised Chicken and Pasture-Raised Pork to stock your freezer.

Any orders placed before midnight tonight will be delivered on Wednesday. UPS orders will ship out on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week unless otherwise noted.

Hope everyone has a great week and thank you for your continued support of our family farm!

Good morning from Riverside Farm!

After a very dry start to spring it seems like much needed rain is in the forecast for most of the week. This is a welcome forecast for us as our pastures are quite dry and we need the rain for our pastures to recover after grazing. We are fortunate to have a decent amount of grass despite the dry conditions, we chalk this up to mainly how we manage our pastures and the fertility we are adding to them using our chickens, turkeys, hogs and cows. We have never added any synthetic fertilizers to our pastures and our forage quality is improving every year, I think we may be on to something! Pictured above are the moveable shade structures we built for our cows, so far they are holding up well and gives us more flexibility with our grazing plan.

Our first farm tour and dinner is scheduled for Friday, May 29th. For our first dinner we will be grilling our delicious Bone-in Pork Chops along with veggies from our friends at Lawson Family Farm and Boxcar Acres, both Henry County produce farms. Thank you to everyone who came out to the farmers market this past weekend despite the rain! It became quite challenging operating the grill with the downpours but we managed. Looking forward to another market this weekend, hopefully the rain will hold off until the afternoon!

We have some beef being processed this week which would give us a full restock in about 2 weeks. Looking forward to having plenty of your favorite beef cuts back in stock soon! We remain fully stocked on chicken, pork, frozen shrimp and eggs for your next meal!

Any orders placed before midnight tonight will be delivered on Wednesday. UPS orders will ship out on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week unless otherwise noted.

Hope everyone has a great week and thank you for your continued support of our family farm!
