We’re excited to share that the 2026 Women Composers Festival of Hartford will take place at Central Connecticut State University!

This vibrant campus will be the home for a weekend of inspiring performances, collaborations, and conversations celebrating women and gender-marginalized composers.

Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

Don’t forget—applications for the Composer-in-Residence and Ensemble-in-Residence positions are accepted year-round, but submissions received by January 1 will be considered for the next three Festival years. It's always a unique sonic experience when Kevin Kastning releases new music and I'm happy to open this week's program with his two latest, paired with long-time compadres, Sandor Szabo & Carl Clements. Greetings! Limited production time means longer pieces, so we return to Tim Brady's excellent current release for the title track, the Nakedeye Ensemble's take on a classic Frederic Rzewski piece and Pamela Z's new composition, "Simultaneous" in it's entirety. Enjoy! Joel e-mail: pushingtheenvelopew...

Flashback to last year’s pre-concert reception! One of the most meaningful parts of the festival is connecting with people who share a passion for music and for celebrating women composers.

We’re so grateful for this community — and we can’t wait to gather again in 2026!

Percussia celebrates its new record, "Murmuration," on November 16 in Queens (Maple Grove Cemetery Celebration Hall).

The album’s title, "Murmuration," is drawn from the mesmerizing, ever-reshaping patterns created by flocks of starlings in flight—a natural phenomenon of breathtaking complexity and synchronized beauty. Composer Alexis Lamb sought to capture this magic in sound, and the resulting piece serves as the centerpiece of the album. The title also stands as a perfect metaphor for Percussia itself: a collective of singular virtuosos who, when they join forces, create something far more than the sum of its parts.
