As previously posted from this past weekend crews from Eureka EMS along with Eureka VFD as well as Citizens VFD were dispatched to Alum Rock Rd in Fawn Twp for a patient in cardiac arrest. Relatives of the patient initiated CPR and upon arrival of emergency responders continuing CPR along with the use of an AED the patient was successfully resuscitated.

In this case early recognition and immediate life saving intervention played a major role in this patient’s outcome. We can’t stress enough about the importance of knowing how to perform CPR if this happens to you or a loved one.

On May 16th Eureka will be hosting a “hands on” CPR event from 10:00AM-1:00PM for anyone who is willing to participate. This will be inside our garage area where the fire trucks are located.

“Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death. When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby. According to the American Heart Association, about 90% of people who suffer cardiac arrest die. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.

Help save a life by learning hands-only CPR!”

Whelp, this weekend was a good way to start our BBQ season. We heard Broomstick BBQ called 4 times today! 4th in Chicken, 7th in Ribs, 10th in Pork and 10th overall in the Masters Series. Kelly & I have to thank Billy, Michele, Keith and Leeann for helping throughout the weekend. Also thanks goes to everyone that stopped by to say hello and help support us! We always appreciate everyone that makes the trip. Thanks to everyone that volunteered at Rekindled Ironman BBQ Festival to host us. Congratulations to all the winners.
