I grew up in the heart of Japan until I was 18 and moved to Indiana for a bachelor’s degree in computer graphics. I married my stud of a husband in 2012 and we started a fair trade and social justice company called Bound For Freedom in St. Our most recent ventures though have been adding our sweet boys, Hezekaiya and Masa to the mix. They are a blast and I would never have thought being a mom was

so fun. I am drawn to romantic, wistful, minimalistic and authentic storytelling. Whether it is through photo or video, my goal is to capture the heart. I value being a non-obtrusive photographer and videographer, I will do everything in my being to get the BEST shots of the day, but I WILL let you enjoy your guests and dance the night away. I will not stop a moment from happening in order to “get my shot” and I will not be creating an atmosphere of production, this is not a set. I strongly believe in organic moments, real happy tears and nurturing an atmosphere of peace and joy throughout your entire day. I am officially based in Southwest Michigan now, but I've traveled to NSW, Australia, the US Virgin Islands, Hawaii, the French Caribbean, Austria, Germany, Canada and all over Japan and the United States for creative work and weddings as well as several European and Southeast Asian countries for education and missional work. So airports are a familiar + comforting place and no place is too far.

Second shooter for 11 years and counting, ride or die friend since 2013, manager of my sporadic life and businesses, auntie to my two boys, forever my lighting model at weddings, mirror selfie groupie, the genuine hype friend that works hard and parties hard, and the one who is there. your presence in my life has been invaluable and it’s the quality that shines, love doing life with you, even when we feel like old Grandma’s after a long wedding day 💕 happy birthday

It me 👋🏼 i’m Kelsey Maiko and whether we have shot together in the past, booked to shoot together this year or will connect in the future someday, I’m so glad you found my gallery! I’m the kind of social media user that basically just posts when I feel like it 😂 I have no scheduled posts, or agenda with making reels, or plan really. I post things that I think are beautiful, I make reels to remember, and I like posts that are inspiring and authentic.

I’m based in this incredible corner of southwest Michigan and have been here for 14 years. Grew up in a big city but have morphed into a small town local and could not be more content to set roots down. Travel will ALWAYS be a priority though.

I’ve been gifted the blessing of having two boys and they are an incredibly surreal experience to watch grow and morph into their own individual little souls. They keep me BUSY outside of photo + video work but they are the most entertaining beings to witness haha

Being in this photo industry for almost 14 years has really got me thinking how incredibly amazing this task of capturing memories really is. Not only has the industry completely changed and morphed, especially in the wedding world, but realizing the images you snagged a decade ago can mean the world to someone as they look back and reminisce. Memories are powerful. I am grateful to have been learning and growing in this industry now more than ever. I am so grateful for anyone that books with me and trusts me with their little window of time. Photography is not cheap, so I commend anyone with the mindset to invest in their memories and history enough to capture. You are not only freezing a moment in your timeline but you’re investing in small business and supporting art.

I’m so looking forward to this upcoming year and all of the couples, families and souls that I will be encountering! Appreciate you all 💕
