$15,000… for what some would call a backyard cookout.

But when you’re in the industry, you know the real cost of creating experiences that feel effortless.

I own about 60% of what you see here — and still, the numbers add up fast. From rentals and décor to entertainment and logistics, even with deep discounts and in-kind support, this was still a $15K production.

The only reason it didn’t double in cost? Relationships.

As a venue owner, I’m usually clients’ first call — not the vendors’. So when it’s my turn to host, my creative partners always show up for me tenfold. They don’t overcharge, they overdeliver. And that’s something I’ll never take for granted.

To every vendor who tapped in, discounted, donated, or simply showed love — thank you.

This is exactly why I tell people: luxury events aren’t expensive… they’re intentional. You’re not just paying for things — you’re investing in expertise, relationships, and moments people will never forget.

When I created Morenas Event venue Gr and Morenas Event Venue Detroit I genuinely believed I was doing it for the culture. Giving us a place of luxury that we could come and celebrate the way we celebrate. Little that I know that was true, but it was for all of the cultures. This journey has taught me so much about celebratory moments across backgrounds. It is by far the part of the business I’m most proud of. The Event business is much like music crossing genres and audiences is very difficult some never do it. And there’s nothing wrong with that but being able to have your gift be universal to many is the gift. I didn’t even know I had. Last night we had a quinceanera and a wedding and there were blacks white Mexicans, Puerto Ricans Caldeans, Albanians. Dominicans and so many more. And at the end of the day, everyone was just happy to celebrate their loved ones and I’m so glad that we could provide a safe space to do that.
