Employee Spotlight: Erica Johnson 🌟

Erica started at Penna’s in 2016—her very first job—and she’s been with us ever since! Erica was pregnant with her son Amir when she joined the team, and now balances life as a busy mom and one of our most experienced servers.

She’s always jumping in to help and keeps the mood light: “When I’m happy, the job is happy.” (Mary Lou’s favorite line!)

The best part of the job for Erica is learning about the different cultures that come through our events. She also appreciates that everyone is accepted with open arms.

The Honor Guard raises money to cover equipment and travel costs, ensuring they can attend funerals for fallen Michigan police officers and pay their respects.

On any given weekend, you may find three generations of Polidori men working side-by-side at Penna’s of Sterling.

For our first Penna’s Employee Spotlight, we’re featuring the youngest Polidori, Luca.

“I’ve learned a lot from them,” says the 18-year-old. “It’s really more of a bonding thing—a full-circle moment,” he adds when asked what it’s like working with his family.

A freshman at the University of Michigan, Luca leaves his college campus in Ann Arbor most weekends to work as a server at Penna’s of Sterling.

Luca says he loves spending weekends working alongside his grandfather, Sandy, and occasionally his father, Mike.

But for Luca, Penna’s represents even more than family and work, it’s where he finds his community: “I really like everyone I work with. It’s almost like getting paid to hang out with my friends.”

Luca envisions himself following in his family’s footsteps and always keeping a connection to Penna’s. While he plans to pursue a career in engineering, he knows he’ll always make time to help his family during big events.

“I’m definitely going to help out—probably forever!”
