Your story isnāt finished just because one chapter ended.
Two years ago, while building this book wall for Unwritten, I spent hours opening old books, gluing down pages, stapling them to wood, and tucking gorgeous flowers between their stories.
And somewhere between the glue burns š and all those pages, I started thinking about my own book.
What would be written on the pages of my life?
There are chapters Iām incredibly proud of.
Chapters where I succeeded.
Chapters where I failed.
Chapters I never would have chosen for myself.
And chapters so beautiful I wish I could dog-ear the pages and return to them whenever I wanted. š„¹
But hereās the funny thing...
Iām still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. šš
Because I donāt want to believe weāve ever completely arrived.
There are still people I havenāt met.
Ideas I havenāt imagined.
Things I havenāt learned.
Joy I havenāt shared.
And people I havenāt had the privilege of reminding just how much they matter.
So maybe the question isnāt:
āWhat will I become?ā
Maybe itās:
āWhat kind of story do I want to keep writing?ā
I hope mine is one where I help other people become the heroes of their stories.
Where I encourage instead of compete.
Where I notice the person standing quietly on the sidelines.
Where I remind someone of something wonderful in themselves that they may have forgotten.
Where I leave people with a little more courage, belonging, creativity, laughter and joy than they had before we met.
I donāt need to be the hero in everyone elseās book.
Iād rather be the character who reminds them that they already are. š„¹š
Maybe thatās the kind of book worth writing.
And the beautiful thing about all those blank pages ahead?
We still get to decide what goes on them.
So hereās to unfinished stories.
To changing directions.
To starting new chapters.
To not having everything figured out.
And to believing that perhaps some of our most meaningful pages...
are still unwritten. ššāØ
