🌦️November used to be a real tricky time for me. Short dark rainy days & lack of sun. Mix that with feelings of grief from my Brothers death twelve years ago and I just never had the warm and fuzzy feelings many people celebrate at the start of what is supposed to be such a happy & festive season. I used to enter the season with the upmost dread. 💀 Then God gave me my sweet little November baby, Waylon Paul & guided me toward stewarding Heirloom Chrysanthemums which happen to be the birth flower of November. A sign? I think so! Fast forward to now and my attitude has changed about this time of year tremendously. I no longer dread November, but I actually welcome it. Never thought I would be able to say that!
💙We celebrated our sweet Waylon’s 2nd Birthday this weekend which is hard to believe. Should also note that I will be celebrating five years of sobriety this month alcohol free. Feels like a milestone worth commemorating that I honestly don’t talk about much! 🏆 I’ve been asked before why I quit drinking and I’ll share in case it could help someone else. No I didn’t hit a rock bottom, I just didn’t want alcohol to have any control over me or my decisions anymore. That’s it. I read a book by Annie Grace called “This Naked Mind” and it changed my relationship with alcohol forever. Maybe I’ll drink again someday, I don’t really know but just don’t really feel like it today and probably won’t tomorrow either. 🤷🏼♀️ Just feels wicked awesome to take back your power over something that controlled many decisions for so long. Anyways! Back to what we have been up to…
Spending the fall days tagging Heirloom Mums for our big spring sale and documenting varieties. We have had some incredible weather days allowing us to spend much more time outside than usual. Also makes for a fantastic Mum year!
🌼Learning about these plants has been fascinating and rewarding. I hope you’ll grow some with me next year if you aren’t already, because you’ve got to admit aren’t you jealous of all the Chrysanthemums on your feed right now? 😂🙋🏼♀️
📸 Thanks to Katie for taking family pics. Will share more soon from the shoot!
