What if every company aimed for a 100% retention rate?

When Mike Abrashoff took command of the USS Benfold, people were leaving fast. Instead of waiting for exit interviews, he created “retention interviews” nine months before a sailor's contract ended and asked one simple question:

“What would make you stay?”

By focusing on each sailor individually and keeping the team together, the crew achieved a level of performance nobody thought possible.

Nicole Malachowski, a combat veteran and the first woman pilot to fly with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, knows elite teams aren’t built on words alone.

How do we stay grounded when the world feels chaotic?

Suneel K Gupta recently joined Dr. Anthony Fauci for a powerful conversation as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series of Southern California.

Joined in the photo by Suneel’s brother, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the discussion centered on something every leader is navigating right now: remaining calm when uncertainty is everywhere.

Thank you Lisa Parker from , for sitting in on Felipe Gomez' talk in Nashville yesterday. Felipe has a gift for completely transforming audiences through his music and message. We felt the passion in this recap you shared with your team –thank you again, Lisa:

I got to see Felipe Gomez today - what a wonderful encore to his Virtuoso keynote - it is called The Beauty of Listening.

This same group had seen Felipe give the Virtuoso keynote, and they cheered when they heard he was back with more! He spoke of how the Method, Attitude, and Passion of a virtuoso work best when we listen well.

Upon studying, he found that neither he nor 98% of people have been trained to listen. Listening builds trust, leads better, and loves more. He paralleled an interpretation of Canon in D with the stages of Listening - Tuned, There, Thorough, Touched, Transformed.

In the music, there is an Intro, Variation 1, 2, 3, and the Finale. He wove in such beautiful gems such as "feel the beauty of being in sync" and "prepare to learn, not to teach", "being heard is being loved", and my favorite - when the Finale is played, it repeats the Intro, but when you hear it again, it's completely different in a transformed way.

Listening well can transform you and others - it is the power of a great conversation. Listening is to be changed by others. He gave many great examples and habits to make us all great listeners and played the 5 separate "pieces" throughout the keynote and in the end played the Canon in D (my favorite piece in the whole world) in its entirety, and it was heavenly.

I was transformed. What a gift.
