Our guest speaker today was Demetria Lightfoot from Youth in Need. Their mission for the area youth is to build on their strengths so they find safety, hope and success in life. They provide shelter, counseling and financial services for deserving families, children and youth in St.Louis City & County, as well as, in Montgomery County. Youth in Need was one of four Major Gifts Grants recipients in 2025. They received $2,800 to finance a new secure door on one of their medication closets.

Our two guest speakers today were our CSH Kiwanis Scholarship Recipients, Nikolla Opari and Sierra Montroy from Lindbergh High School. Nikolla plans to go to the University of Missouri Columbia and study Accounting, Economics and Political Science. Sierra plans to attend Loyola University Chicago and study Business and Fine Arts. Two of our members attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Baden Christian Child Care Center on North Broadway this morning. Thanks to our guest speaker, Erin McFarland, from Urban Harvest. Through their network of six farms across St. Louis, they grow around 7,000 lbs of organic produce each year and donate it to those experiencing food insecurity. They were one of four of our Major Gifts Grants recipients in 2025. Urban Harvest received $2,200 to build a covering to give shade for the children learning at one of their garden areas.

Our guest speaker today was Julius B. Anthony from the Believe Projects. This organization inspires children to become confident and competent readers. In one year, they have gone from three to 35 libraries in preschools and home daycares. They are a past recipient of our Major Gifts Grants. Today, club members donated 28 books for their libraries.

Their mission is to partner with the community to assist children, youth and families in their unique pursuit of health and wholeness through quality, professional, and faithful services.
