Episode 7: Out of Bounds & Red Penalty Areas 🚩
Not every errant shot is treated the same! This week, we’re breaking down the difference between out of bounds and red penalty areas.
Out of Bounds: If your ball goes out of bounds, you’ll generally need to take stroke-and-distance relief, meaning you add a penalty stroke and replay your shot from where you last played.
Red Penalty Areas: If your ball lands in a red penalty area, you have options! You can play it as it lies or take penalty relief, including the option to drop within two club-lengths of where the ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area, no closer to the hole.
Knowing the difference can save you some confusion (and maybe a few strokes!). 😉
