Miss Jayleā¦. THIS is a story to tell!! Seriously.
She bounced into my shop 2 years ahead of her wedding! Gotta love that, but in August, Iām fighting for brain cells! So I asked her to come back in year. And she, of course, did just that!!
It was originally to be a custom project. Silk crepe with a vintage inspired beaded bodice. And then she found a gown that she couldnāt live without!! Little did I know how much serous change was going to happen!!
The first 2 pics show day 1. She is petite. 67 and fierceā¦ it did not fit at all. The bodice needed to be taken in at the ribs and through the bust. The sides came in, but the hips were perfect! Once that was dealt with, there came the beading!!
She had a stash and a half!! The 3rd pic. Jayleās word of the day became āedit.ā There were crystals with all kinds of color. I really forced the issue of keeping the crystals the color of the gown, mix the sizes, but keep it monochromatic.
So the original trim on the neckline was changed as well as reshaping the neckline to be more open. The original plan was a 3-D trim for a belt and for the shoulders. That eventually was edited out for the just 1 trim all around the neckline and waist.
Then sleeves were added. Hemmed in the same trim as the neckline. The back was totally openā¦ that was filled in with an illusion back closed with crystal buttons! Phew!!
Finally, crystal drops were created at her shoulders! This, of course, added drama and sparkle, and also covered what was a rather naked seam where the sleeve was added.
Lastly, watch to the endā¦. Jayle is one of you brides that worked tirelessly for 2 years for her day. Her reception was epic!! The Packard Proving site is a completely blank room. She literally transformed it thanks to her team!!
