It might take you a little longer to get to the cafe over the next couple of weeks, but it is worth it!
A quick update on N. Second Street. The road was closed yesterday, September 1, and crews immediately began excavation and installation of the new water main. The work is very deep in this area, but crews are making excellent progress despite the extreme heat and heat advisories this week.
As they excavate, crews continue to uncover portions of the old brick streets that were paved over many years ago. It is a good reminder of the history beneath this area, and both the Second Street and Main Street projects will incorporate brick pavers, reused railroad rail and other elements intended to highlight that history rather than cover it back up.
As we committed to Frenchtown residents, we will only close Second Street when the work directly requires it. This is one of those times. The excavation and water main installation are occurring within the roadway itself, making the closure unavoidable and making it easy to see why the street needs to be closed while this work is underway. Crews remain on schedule to complete this stage of work by September 15.
