It looks like we made the cut for the Channel 309 for BBQ places worth a drive! You’re in luck this weekend too because our Brisket Burnt Ends will be featured with Momma’s Mac & Cheese during our Mac & Cheese Mania event on Saturday! The weather looks beautiful for a drive. Come see for yourself what we’re all about!!

🔥🍖 33 BBQ PLACES WORTH THE DRIVE — PART 1! 🚗

We asked Channel 309 followers where they’d send someone for BBQ worth getting in the car for — and you gave us a LOT of places to investigate.

Not necessarily the biggest names. Not necessarily the places with the most awards. Just smokehouses, roadside joints, small-town favorites, and a few hidden gems that people say are worth making the trip for.

And we didn’t stop at the restaurant names — we included what people said to order, too. 👀

🥩 Brisket, ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, smoked wings, and a few things you might not expect to find at a BBQ joint.

We narrowed your recommendations down to 33 restaurants across Central Illinois, PLUS 2 food trucks.

A few notes:

• These aren't rankings. They're recommendations from Channel 309 followers, with some additional menu suggestions.

• Some dishes are specials or only available certain days.

• Menus, ownership, and hours can change. Call ahead before making a long drive.

• This is BBQ, so we already know people are going to disagree. 😂

This SATURDAY from 11 AM–9 PM, we're loading up our creamy, cheesy Momma's Mac with smoky, tender Brisket Burnt Ends! 🤤

It's a combination everyone loves, but one you won't always find on our everyday menu! This one's worth making a special trip for, so grab yours while supplies last!

Prefer your mac without the meat? We've got you covered! Momma's Mac & Cheese is always on our menu and just as delicious on its own!

WEATHER CLOSURE | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15

We've made the decision to close The Railyard for the evening due to the rainy weather.

Thursdays can already be a little unpredictable this time of year, and adding rain to the mix makes it even tougher for our small food vendors. Rather than have everyone prepare food that may go unsold, we feel it's best to call it a night.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support of our vendors! ❤️

We'll be back in action tomorrow!

Oh hey! Things are getting wild around here! Brad will still be smoking al the delicious BBQ! Come see us to celebrate taking over operations of The Railyard on Historic Route 66 and celebrate some good fall weather too!!

Tim and Emily Lewis are stepping back from managing The Railyard — the outdoor food venue they have operated since February 2025.

Brad and Adria Martin, who run Oakview BBQ in one of the four food-vendor shipping containers at the Railyard, will be taking the reins as of Oct 1.
