My fave moment at this event last summer was guiding a group of men in singing “I’m Painting the River with the River” while standing right by the river itself. It was one of those magical moments where creativity, nature, and community all came together.

I led attendees in creating watercolor landscape paintings using plant-based dyes and actual water collected from the river. Because no chemicals were added, the artwork was beautifully temporary—eventually fading back into nature. My mission is to reduce chemical-based supplies by introducing original methods.

When I moved here 3 years ago, I got takeout and was handed a styrofoam container. My jaw dropped as I looked at it. I hadn’t seen styrofoam in 5 years while living in Madison — it would have suffered “cancel culture.”

I’ve served on several green committees across the Midwest and am now collaborating with enviro orgs on how to help shift Chicago’s attitude toward the environment. With Chicago being such a mix of cultures, I’m interested in how environmental practices in different countries influence attitudes here. We can begin by being aware and making better choices. 🌎

Look for 'Vibrant Arts with Rhiannon' at EF for an art collab. I'm increasing natural art products in my events as art supplies are majorly toxic. Chemicals are used to make art last longer. By changing our view of permanence we accept art in its presence encouraging natural supplies for greater well-being. 😊
