A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE TECUMSEH ROTC STUDENTS!** 🇺🇸

There are a lot of people who help make the Heritage of Flight Festival possible, but one group deserves some special recognition!

The incredible students of the Tecumseh ROTC program!

Year after year, these young men and women step up and volunteer their time to help make our festival a success.

Putting on an event of this size takes a tremendous amount of work, and we can say without hesitation that we simply couldn't do it without their help!

These students demonstrate what community service is all about. Their dedication, hard work, and willingness to lend a hand speak volumes about their character and the leadership being developed through this program.

It's encouraging to see young people who understand the importance of giving back to their community.

To the Tecumseh ROTC students and their instructors, THANK YOU! Your contributions do not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for everything you do.

You are not just helping us put on a festival. You are helping keep a New Carlisle tradition alive!

We’re committed to keeping you informed about your local government. Here are the top three highlights from last night's Commission Meeting:

1. Celebrating more than 120 years of Home City Tent & Awning
Mayor Rob Rue presented a proclamation recognizing Home City Tent & Awning for more than 120 years of service to Springfield and the surrounding communities.

Established in Springfield in 1902, the company has evolved from traditional canvas tents and awnings to modern tent systems, vinyl structures and retractable awning solutions while maintaining its longstanding commitment to quality workmanship, personal service and the community.

Congratulations to Home City Tent & Awning on this remarkable Springfield business milestone!

2. More than $2.6 million in federal funding for housing and community needs
City Commission authorized agreements with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for more than $2.6 million in federal funding to support community development, housing and services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The funding includes $1.74 million through the Community Development Block Grant program, $451,776 through the HOME Program, $152,941 through the Emergency Solutions Grant program and up to $269,087 through the Continuum of Care Program.

3. Electra project moves forward at AirPark Ohio
Commission authorized the sale of approximately 88 acres of City-owned property at AirPark Ohio at the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport to Electra.

The property is part of Electra’s plans to establish its corporate headquarters and manufacturing operations in Springfield, representing an approximately $1 billion investment and nearly 2,000 new jobs. Electra will manufacture its EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft in Springfield.

We feel badly when we can't put a product out that is reasonably clean and in good condition. We caught this Anchor Industries Fiesta in the wild this morning. Can't say if this is customer owned or an over-the-counter rental. Concept of clean seems a little off, multiple leg braces missing and some pins not installed. But they do have it staked into the asphalt.

Tonight, Mayor Rob Rue and the Springfield City Commission recognized Home City Tent & Awning for its remarkable legacy of service to Springfield and the surrounding communities.

Established in 1902, Home City Tent & Awning has grown and evolved through the years while maintaining its commitment to quality workmanship, personal service and customer satisfaction.

Under the leadership of John Fleeger Jr., the company continues a longstanding tradition of serving residential and commercial customers throughout Clark, Champaign and Greene counties.
