Where: Start at North Riverfront Park, West St. Springfield, MA
May is National Bike Month, and in the Pioneer Valley, the tradition of celebrating with a full calendar of bike-friendly events and activities continues in full force. Each year, the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission joins forces with advocacy organization, local governments, and bike shops and publishes a calendar of events – including the two premier ones in Springfield.
While other communities sponsor Bike Breakfasts, in Springfield cyclist can come to the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Spirit of Springfield and be provided both secure bicycle parking and a free breakfast ticket. Come try-out a bicycle from our area’s bike share program, ValleyBike.
“When someone finds out you’re from Springfield, the next question is usually, “What Neighborhood?” That’s because we understand that community matters and that diversity is the strength of our City,” says organizer Todd Crosset. The Springfield’s 17 Neighborhood Ride celebrates the 17 neighborhoods that make up Springfield. This recreational, 30-mile no-drop ride winds through all 17 neighborhoods. We will take breaks at mile 17 (Duggan School) and mile 28 (RAD Bike on Bridge St.) to regroup before the grand finish. The ride starts and ends at North Riverfront Park
