This Labor Day weekend, Willa’s Wildflowers will be open both Saturday and Sunday!! Don’t let summer pass you by without visiting and seeing our new farm stand come to life too! Unfortunately, someone stole our ladder and circular saw, but we’ll still get it done…maybe just not quite as quickly as we thought. But come help us purchase a new saw by buying some gorgeous garden fresh bouquets and getting us back on track! A “real” farm stand will allow us to offer fresh bouquets more frequently along with other products to come! So come over to 4403 Cockrell lane, 62711 this weekend and check it out!

It’s so hot and dry out but it doesn’t seem to slow the resident pollinators down! But don’t forget to put a source of water out for these guys as well. A shallow saucer with pebbles for little itty biddy legs to land on without getting waterlogged!

Willa’s chickens were on the loose the other day! Occasionally, the chickens are able to wander the property as they see fit and help with bug control! Once again, we resort to pest control without using chemical pesticides- as the season winds down, we’ll let them out more frequently. During the growing season they stay in their run cause they can cause a LOT of damage to the garden otherwise! Plus the more bugs they eat, the better the eggs!

Summer is winding down and keeping up with all the farm chores gets tougher and tougher, and apparently the bees feel the same way! But there’s still time before the season ends to get your garden bouquets this weekend! This weekend we’ll just be open on Sunday again; stay tuned for more details! As a flower farmer, who spends a lot of time playing in dirt, and getting dirty, my hands and skin gets super dry and cracked from all the hand washing and cleaning up. By making my own soap, I can control the ingredients, mositure levels, and conditioning factors. This way I can avoid harsh ingredients that strip additional moisture from my skin along with potential other products that aren’t great for the environment. As a result, I’m in love with soap making so I hope ya’ll will enjoy these as much as I enjoy making them! In a couple of weeks they will be available to all as well, and looking forward to some fun holiday soaps for yourself or someone else! Looking forward to expanding our flower options and, hopefully soon, soap options as well!

I hope ya’ll have a fantastic day today! It’s absolutely beautiful for mid August in central Il and I hope you are able to get outside and touch some dirt even for just a little bit! As things seem to be winding down this season(although I know there’s still lots left) planning for next year has already begun! Stay tuned!
