Not everyone gets to rewatch the moment they found their calling.
I do.
Years ago, I made this video for Greenwood High School (AR) that ended up winning $20,000 in a national Eastbay competition. I was 17. I just loved telling stories. I loved capturing the energy of a team. I loved creating something that made people feel proud.
At the time, I didn’t fully realize what that moment meant.
But looking back, that wasn’t just a “cool project.”
It was the first time I saw how powerful storytelling in sports could be. It was the first time I realized this was more than a hobby.
Now, years later, I get to do this every day, creating content, telling athletes’ stories, building programs, and helping teams share their identity with the world.
I’ve been reflecting on my early projects and thinking about what my 17 year old self would say if she could see where I am now.
I think she’d be proud. 🥹
And she’d probably tell me to keep going.
Grateful for the moments that started it all and excited for what’s ahead!
Here’s the news broadcast from the homecoming game that night. My dad, Rick Jones, was the Head Coach at the time, so he was interviewed too. 💙 And he’s being interviewed by my mentor, Amy Slanchik, someone who helped shape me in those early years.
