Let me tell you about rockstars. This momma here was absolutely one. Not only did she deal with prodromal labor for several days, but she was also past her due date. She got lots of extra care and attention. But when it came time to give birth, she very nearly did so on her own. When I told grandma to let the midwife know know we could see baby's head she flew through the streets so quickly that she arrived about thirty seconds before the birth. Mom one handed caught and pulled her baby up to her. About five minutes later the other midwife texted asking where the midwife was at, giving everyone a laugh at how crazy quick the birth suddenly became. Mom got to relax and cuddle her new big baby boy as his three siblings, dad, grandma, and grandpa looked upon both of them in love and awe.

As many have seen, my site here has even quiet for some time. My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer almost a year ago. I chose to put a lot on hold to spend as much time with her as I could. She fought hard and did amazing with all that she was going through. On July 27th, she passed away. It's been almost three months without her now. This photo was taken courtesy of Erik Sohner in June. I had shown my mom the photos when he sent them to me, and she loved them. She loved the experience and getting to feel beautiful. It has taken me until now to open the photos and start to edit them so I can share my beautiful and strong mother with everyone. This has been a hard journey to go from talking to my mom every day, to never being able to hear her voice again. And though I knew the day was coming, I was not prepared for how I would feel, how it would take my breath away, and break me down. But I know my mother and I know she would want me to stand back up, mend the pieces, and keep walking forward. I may stumble, but I will do so. This beautiful, strong, courageous woman did not lose her battle. She fought, she won. She proved doctors wrong again and again. She held her head and heart high. And I am proud to say she is my mother.
