𝙎𝙐𝙍𝙑𝙄𝙑𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝙐𝙈𝙈𝙀𝙍 𝙃𝙀𝘼𝙏: 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣!
Summer is all fun and sunshine… until your A/C starts gasping like it just ran a marathon in flip-flops. As your friendly neighborhood REALTOR® (and unofficial home whisperer), I’m sharing my Top 10 Cool + Safe Summer Home Tips — with a twist of personality, of course!
📋
Reverse That Fan, Baby! Your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise in summer. It’s not just for style points—it actually pushes cool air down where you need it.
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀. (Okay, not literally.) Use blackout curtains to block sun like a pro. Bonus: dark curtains = dramatic flair.
𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔/𝗖 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗶𝗹—regularly, even if you "don’t feel like it.” Dirty filters = your A/C working overtime and you footing the bill.
𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲. Use that grill outside to keep your oven from turning your kitchen into a sauna. Plus, burgers. Enough said.
𝗗𝗜𝗬 𝗜𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸. Put a bowl of ice in front of a fan and enjoy DIY "cool mist" for pennies. It’s the closest thing to cheating the heat gods.
𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Hot air rises… and it loves to hang out in poorly insulated attics. Give yours a quick check—it’s like sunscreen for your house.
𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳!). Your leafy roommates feel the heat too. Early morning waterings help them (and you) stay perky.
𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁. Let tech do the thinking. Set it to chill while you’re away, then cool down just before you return. Efficiency = $$$ saved.
𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 & 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀.Tiny gaps = big temperature leaks. Weather stripping is your unsung hero this season.
𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: Beat the Heat Checklist. Know where your water shut-off, fire extinguisher, and emergency kit are—because summer storms and heatwaves don’t RSVP.
𝙋𝙧𝙤 𝙩𝙞𝙥: Homes that stay cool, safe, and well-maintained also tend to sell better and faster down the road. Just sayin’.
