Drivers and fans of Owen County Demo Derby, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of one of our dearest friends and long time supporter, Donna Woodruff. Donna was the soul mate of Lowell Simpson who loved and directed our derbies for years and they both had a special bond with Owen County drivers. It was Lowell's desire to offer a special trophy to drivers from Owen County that finished highest in the 3 classes that ran when he was in charge, just before he passed away. Donna made sure to carry out his wishes and purchased special trophies to honor his memory that have been given out for years at the Lowell Simpson Memorial Derby at the Owen County Fair. She wanted to make sure to keep his memory and love for Owen County and demolition derby alive. In the process she became a loved icon by local drivers and her trophies were a sought after prize, cherished by local drivers who had the pleasure of knowing them both. She was involved with many community events and ours was just one of them. We honored her recently with a Legacy Award for her contributions to our program and we will continue her promise to Lowell to offer the trophies in the future. Our world was a better place with her in it and we have nothing but the most sincere appreciation for her friendship. Our prayers and condolences go out to her family. Donna was a Matriarch of our derby family and will be truly missed. Godspeed, Dear Friend.

Personnel changes are being made for inspection for specifically the Motor Swap Class. A RULE UPDATE FOR THE MOTOR SWAP CLASS ONLY for the remaining 2 events of 2025 are as follows...
A maximum of 8 plates - 4x6 inch 1/4 inch thick or 6x6 inch by 1/8 inch thick. Bumper strap up to 6 inches behind bumper allowed. Any rear end allowed.
This rule update for this class is a transitioning update and will change again for the 2026 season.

UPDATED Tire rules for the remainder of the 2025 season as of 7-25-25
Any tire that holds air can be used (does not have to be DOT tire). Tires may be filled. Only small weld in centers, no reinforced beads or bead locks. These apply to all classes except Front Wheel Drive Plus that allow solids on the rear.

Thanks Scott Barnett for another successful fair derby and working through the issues created by a downpour before the show. We appreciate all the volunteers that help prepare and assist in making it fun for everyone. We really appreciate all the volunteers that brought and operated equipment to remove vehicles from the arena. I think it went much quicker and better coordinated than any time in the past and that makes the show much better for fans. We want to thank all the drivers that participated and hope you return for our fall event, the Paul Morin Legacy Demolition Derby during the Apple Butter Festival on September the 20th.

Just a quick update, yes there looks to be storms coming. We will go ahead with our show if at all possible. Rain, we will run. Severe weather and we will be at the fairboards discretion. Every indication as of now shows the weather to be out of our area by showtime. As the committee will be busy at the track and not able to answer this page please monitor the OC fairboards page for any updates. Bring a poncho and let’s have a great time in the mud this evening.

Hey everyone! Saturday 7/12 is Joe Wilson’s birthday! We are asking if you have a version of a J12 strong shirt to wear it or if you don’t have one, wear his colors which are black and neon green.

His wife is also going to be selling lymphoma awareness bracelets and green ribbons at the sign in table. Hope to see you all there! 💚🖤

2025 rules are posted. The only changes made were to the Front Wheel Drive Plus and Motor Swap Class. The other classes are the same as last year. These rules will apply to every event this year including a 4th Halloween derby which date is yet to be determined.
