Photography was never about the money for me. From the very first picture I took, it was about capturing a smile, freezing a moment, creating something that lasts forever, because some moments simply can’t be recreated. I started my business not for profit, but to give people memories they could hold onto.
Over the years, my passion dimmed. It felt like fewer people appreciated the artistry behind a photograph. Everyone seemed to want something quick, cheap, and easy, sometimes digitally created, often without the love and care that went into building a set, painting, hammering, and crafting by hand. That process, the joy of creation, was what truly fulfilled me.
Did I step back for a while? Yes. I didn’t want to give my clients something rushed or thrown together. But now, I’m finding my love for photography again. I get to create at my own pace, focusing on the art rather than the profit.
Do I believe all artists should be fairly compensated for their time and talent? Absolutely. But not everyone will agree, because there will always be someone or something offering less for more, sacrificing creativity along the way.
Shoutout to the original photographers still out here, creating with heart and vision, without relying on AI. Your creativity matters, and it’s inspiring
