❓🤔 Many are confused as to why we celebrate CINCO DE MAYO. With some saying that it’s an American holiday and not celebrated in Mexico. Both are untrue.

Tho the Battle of Puebla is celebrated locally to the region it took place, it has grown in popularity over the years. Possibly for the wrong reasons.

CINCO DE MAYO has been commercialized and misrepresented, as many traditions and parts of culture have been.

❗️ What it SHOULD stand for is to celebrate an example of resistance and resiliance despite overwhelming odds.
❗️ It SHOULD stand for a moment for the Underdogs to celebrate that anything is possible thru unity and courage.

And so Tonight, we celebrate the underdog. The ones facing seemingly impossible odds. Those that awaken every day and keep pushing and keep fighting for what they want, what they need and what they believe in.

🚫 You don’t have to be Mexican. You don’t have to be Chicano. All you have to be is proud of what the human spirit is capable of when you fight with the passion and persistence shown on that battlefield by proud Mexican soldiers.
