I’d like to interrupt this holiday centric thread with a illustration of one of my favorite reason why printed invitations matter !

Today I was cleaning out and organizing some boxes today and came across these gems that my mother had shared with me a few years back.

These are just a few photos of the heirloom family invitations that my mother had inherited/ discovered and uncovered over the years. I personally love that they aren’t framed or in albums but rather we’re kept in boxes and drawers over generations and although perhaps as an afterthought are now an amazing archive of family history.
1. My great grandparents wedding invitation 1909. And the menu from their reception at Little Hungary restaurant on Houston Street
2. My grandmothers birth announcement 1912. A little worse for the wear but I love that the ribbon is still intact. And her parent names are under the little card 🎀.
3. My birth announcement- an I am sure the similarities to the previous are coincidence.
4. My father - Arnie - Bar Mitzvah invitation. Also please note it was held on December 25th. And the reception was at their home.

I have more not. shown here. I love that they each evoke a milestone and a family celebration that you can just picture all the details even without the photos.
Of course things were different then and we have a many more choices. But I can picture them choosing fonts and reviewing wording and sealing envelopes.

Invitations matter, they are a gift to the receiver that they are an important part of your celebration and they matter to generations to come to have a little piece of that special occasion.

It’s the last big Hurrah for this year and we’ll be open everyday until 12/24.

And now let the games begin. We’ll be open today by 12 ( maybe earlier 😉) and tomorrow and Sunday we will have all holiday items on sale 10% off and some bubbly and treats to kick off the season.

There is so much to be grateful for!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it reminds to reflect on just that! What we are grateful for.
I try to practice gratitude everyday —I really do ! I love the tradition that encourages everyone to stop and take stock just for a moment.

Even while rushing around and the stress of traveling and cooking and hosting try and pause just for a moment and acknowledge what you are grateful for. It really shifts your perspective 🍁

Among so much I am eternally grateful for all of you
And for being part of your lives through
and the amazing support and commeradrie of the community.
I am gradyedul to be surrounded by such incredible natural beauty and to have the opportunity to heath deep and enjoy it.

We’re starting to feel the holiday spirit over here!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Coming off of a very full weekend of music and lights and holiday inspiration
I’m ready to face the season in all its splendor.

As my 4th year as part of the planning committee for this truly spectacular local event I continue to be awed and grateful for all the wonderful creativity and inspirational dedication it takes to pull off this beloved holiday kick off.
