Good morning, Everyone! Neil Tortonesi here! I hope everyone has been doing well!

I wanted to update everyone on what is going on with the reunion and/or what hasn't been. Personally, I've been working full time for a little over a year in Westland and this job has absorbed a majority of my time. However, this isn't stopping me from continuing our reunion. We will have it THIS YEAR. Time, for me right now, hasn't been something I have had too much of but we will start to organize everything in the coming months.

For now, I anticipate the reunion to take place in October/November of this year! I want to run another poll to get an update on everyone's feelings on how they want the reunion to feel and be for them. I will organize this sometime this week.

I will also upload a brief video to catch up on things this week as well. I'm going to a funeral today for my family but then I plan to record the update video after.

Life has been busy and stressful but I'm sure we all have our own lives that have been equally the same way. This is a responsibility that I've taken on so I must continue with it.

Anyways, stay tuned with this page as I do plan on uploading pictures from our class as time goes on! Our class, even though it may be spread across the country, was very important as we are now the future of our societies and communities. The memories we share from Southgate Anderson High School are some that we remember today and will carry with us throughout our lives.

I want everyone that is able to attend our reunion to be able to live those memories again through the conversations and stories that each of us remember from our small period of time we had together. I'm excited for what is ahead and hope the best for everyone in our Class of 2016. Talk to you soon!

Hi Everyone! I know! Long time, no see! We are still planning on doing this! Currently, a lot has happened in our personal lives but we are still working on making this happen in 2026. As of late, it is just myself, Neil Tortonesi, that is on the board for our reunion. We would like to have more people on it by June or July of next year. There is still a lot of time to plan everything, but the clock is ticking! We have less than 2 years to pull all of this together!

That being said, I can not do this alone. If we don't have anyone willing to be a part of the board, then the most we can do is a small venue with limited guests. I would like this to be a celebration for all of us and a chance for everyone to catch up together.

I want to run some polls to get an idea of what everyone's thoughts and feelings are for the reunion. If nobody is wanting to come or help out, then it would be unreasonable to have it.

Good Morning Everyone! Just a reminder that we are having a meeting THIS THURSDAY at the Southgate Veterans Memorial Library at 7:30 PM! We will be going over all of the information that has been gathered thus far as well as looking for people to hold positions for the Planning Committee. The positions we need with descriptions are listed below. All positions are volunteer as we are a Non-Profit Organization with the State of Michigan. An agenda for the meeting will be posted before Thursday so check back for updates! We are excited to see more of you that have made comments and messages and we want to really get a good start on this! We hope to see you Thursday!

Hey everyone! We are going to have another meeting next week on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at 7:30 PM at the Southgate Memorial Library. Thankfully, we have had someone reach out from our class that is interested in helping out on the board but we have to have a meeting to record everything. If anyone is interested in helping out on any other positions, here are the positions and descriptions posted below. (Catering position is TAKEN) We appreciate all of the support thus far and we hope to keep moving forward to achieve our goals. We hope to see you next week!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to post an update to keep everyone in the loop.

So! We only had 2 people for our last meeting and those 2 people are not able to sign off on documents for our nonprofit to be on the board. Again, we are still in need of people to hold positions within the nonprofit in order for us to be in good standing with the State of Michigan.

To be clear, this process of opening a nonprofit is what Southgate Schools said we needed to do. Other classes are also in the same process of opening a nonprofit corporation and have their board of directors already signed off. In order for us to have a reunion, we must be established as a nonprofit organization. If we were to just have a reunion on our own with no establishment and with our size of class, we could definitely be asked questions from the IRS. This is real and as much as some people do not want to believe that this is the way to do things, it is. We have been doing our research and filling out every document that we are able to in order for us to have a successful event.

Remember, we are not doing this for ourselves. We are doing this for YOU! We believe that our Class of 2016 is special and deserves to have a celebration after 10 years since graduation. We have a lot of ideas and plans that we want to share with you! That is why we hold meetings so that we can share our ideas and information with everyone!

This page is only to spread the word because it is the simplest method in contacting people from our class. We cannot say all of our details on social media because we want people to come to the meetings and hear for themselves and it is also not the best to say everything on social media!

In closing, we are still working with the school to get everything sorted out with our paperwork. If you would like to be involved in the planning committee, please message this page or comment below and we can message you privately.

As for right now, we are holding off on meetings until we have everything figured out. There is no point in meeting with the same people at this point in time if we cannot find members who are willing to be a part of the planning. If things change, we will of course post more updates as we continue to move forward with this. REMINDER! We are having a meeting TODAY at the Southgate Memorial Library at 7:30 PM! If you would like to be a member on the board, please check our page for the list of positions that we need filled!

Operations for these positions won't happen all at once and we have 2 years to plan this event. The main objective for this meeting is to inform the alumni of the current situations and add at least 1 member to the board member list. If no one is able to sign up for a significant position today, we will have to postpone the planning and this nonprofit until further notice.

We hope to see you tonight! We will most likely be in one of the big meeting rooms. You can find the room when you first enter the library by turning right as you walk in the main entrance, then there should be an open door. When you go all the way down the hallway, we would be in the last room to the left. If anything changes, we will update this page!

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting! We appreciate all the help that has been given to us so far.

At the moment, we still aren’t sure the event will even happen. We are yet to have full board and deadlines are coming in a month. If we don’t have a board that can be committed to meeting and to be elected by the last week of April, then we will for sure have to pass on having this class reunion. We simply cannot operate without more support. We have to be realistic with the current circumstances and with ourselves.

With that being said, we are having a meeting at Southgate Library on Thursday, April 11th, 2024 at 7:30 PM! This will be our deciding meeting for who wants to be a part of our organization. If we cannot agree on board members, then this event cannot be held under the current management. Thank you to everyone that has shown interest this far! We want this reunion to happen, so let’s make it happen!
