The Connecticut state legislature has just made some changes to the process of getting a marriage license and to other issues involving Justices of the Peace. Starting on October 1, 2026 there will be a 48 hour waiting period to get married after you are issued your marriage license. And while I believe have earned a reputation for being professional and knowledgeable about my role as a JP, there will be some required training for JPs to ensure that is the case for all Justices of the Peace in the state.
