Every outdoor wedding in Wisconsin faces one challenge that can throw a wrench in the vision....... WEATHER! ☔

A beautiful outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and mingling space on a spacious patio surrounded by nature can turn into a crushed dream in an instant, and you never know which one you're getting until the day of. Here's how HTZ Events prepares, adjusts, and executes when we run into this exact challenge.

This past weekend we had the pleasure of setting up three different spaces for a wedding at Glacier Hills Hall in Hubertus, Wisconsin. Our clients' original vision: an outdoor ceremony in an open field by the marsh, a cocktail hour on the Hall's spacious patio under warm string lights, and an elegant reception inside laced with ceiling draping, twinkle lights, and formal table linens.

That plan hit a wall as the forecast turned toward a weekend full of continuous rain and storms, and the hall didn't have room for a cocktail hour alongside the dinner tables already set. We then planned for a pivot, moving the ceremony into the venue's chapel with pipe and drape, up-lighting, and a beautifully staged wedding arch. Then brought in tents with string lights and leg drapes to cover the outdoor bar and cocktail tables. This let our clients keep the flow and feel of their day while holding onto the small details that kept it feeling like an elegant wedding.

"Our wedding day ended up having rain, which meant changing our original plans for both the ceremony and cocktail hour. At first, that was definitely a bummer because we had pictured so much of the day happening outside.

HTZ completely changed that for us. They came up with ideas for tenting and lighting, added beautiful decor, helped transform the chapel even though we had not originally planned to use it, and still had the outdoor ceremony chairs ready to go in case the weather improved. By the time everything came together, we honestly had zero disappointment about the rain. The spaces looked beautiful and felt intentional rather than like a backup plan."
