August //

Nights are starting to feel the slightest bit of crisp.

You can feel it in the air in the morning - seasons are changing.

I almost let this month slip by without designing an arrangement that feels like the month - but then I realized - this is the exact reason I set this goal for myself.

It can be so easy to get caught it designing for wedding after wedding - as creatives we need to carve out time to slow down and create just for fun as well.

So here we are, sunflowers & rudbeckia - feels like August to me.

From my earliest memories, my grandmother’s flower filled home was a haven of inspiration and wonder.

Watching her tend to each flower as though it held a special gift always inspired me. I saw the way they transformed grand spaces, small nooks, and were always present at the dining table.

The door to her greenhouse is now the door to my floral business, letting the light and inspiration in with all of the memories alongside it.

You’ll find me here often, in my studio, my grandmother’s door ajar, preparing for a wedding or putting together an arrangement for my local coffee spot with Oakley at my feet.

Welcome to my little slice of heaven.

A mix of local & imported.

Bright & rich.

Textural & smooth.

All working together to bring to life the vision of an elegant summer wedding.

Richness, texture, and intentionality were at the forefront for these designs.

Other than the overall feel - I was given a lot of creative freedom to bring the vision to reality.

Smokebush season lined up perfectly, so I leaned into it as both a focal and supporting act. I knew for ceremony I wanted limited ingredients - to allow each one to have its moment but together create a statement. Queen Annes Lace added texture and movement to the aisle. The most spectacular Eremurus from June Farm | Brooke & Cafe Crème Foxglove brought the height.

I wanted the center of the tables to be the main focal point but needed intentional supporting flowers to continue the story. So for the table top floral moments Brownie Tulips were the perfect textural yet romantic statement to add, paired with Oncidium and Jewels of Opar.

I won’t admit how long I spent brainstorming & sourcing these flowers - but it’s always so worth it to see the ideas swirling around in our heads come to life.
