What a weekend at DieHard Family RC Park!
Friday night kicked everything off with an absolutely amazing community potluck before our movie under the stars watching GOAT. As always, this community exceeded every expectation imaginable. There was enough incredible food to feed everyone Friday night, plenty left over into Saturday, and somehow we even still had cookies to share into Sunday. Yum!
The highlight of the potluck had to be the smoked brisket made by James Cook. James smoked enough meat for everyone to try and WOW… it was Soooo good! Huge thank you to everyone who brought dishes, desserts, snacks, and drinks to share. The sense of community around this place is truly something special.
After a late Friday night filled with great food, amazing people, and a movie that wrapped up around 11:30pm, we were right back at it Saturday morning for Turf Race #1 — and WOW did this community show up! Thank you Mark Christopherson for bringing the movie and setting up the big screen for everyone to enjoy. We appreciate you going above and beyond to create a fun experience.
We had nearly 100 entries with amazing racing all day long. One of the best parts was seeing so many new racers and families come out to experience DieHard RC for the first time. The Team Associated loaner cars stayed busy all day giving new drivers the chance to hit the track and experience the fun firsthand. Huge shout out to HobbyTown for the grand opening of the new trackside store! What a cool way to support our racers! Thank you for being here and keeping our racers racing.
The racing itself was incredible with epic battles throughout the day, and we were especially proud to see 4 of our sponsored girls land on the podium!
Huge thank you to Pablo Guerrero for all the hard work coaching the girls and running RCU. We truly couldn’t do this without you!
Another huge shoutout goes to Brandy Dunn for creating an amazing kids area packed with puzzles, coloring books, bubbles, and activities. We had more than 20 kids running around laughing and having fun throughout the day. Seeing this community continue to grow and hearing all the laughter around the park is honestly heartwarming.
We also had She's Got Bowls Food Truck at the park serving up amazing food all day long. As always, she kept everyone fed and happy!
Then after a full day of turf racing… we rolled right into Race #2 of the Sunset Series on Sunny Speedway!
There’s just something special about watching these cars turn left under the evening sky while hearing the laughs and excitement on the drivers stand. We had over 50 entries for this growing program and the energy was awesome all night long.
One of the biggest highlights continues to be the new GasTruck / NasTruck class. This class is an absolute blast and features a traveling championship belt that gets handed off each race to the new winner. This round, Andrew Chong proudly received the belt from previous winner Michael McMorran. We have a feeling this class is going to explode in popularity.
The girls kept the momentum going on the oval too, with more podium finishes throughout the night — and Olivia Guerrero had an incredible day landing on FOUR podiums total! Way to go Olivia!
Huge thank you to all the crews on both tracks for the countless hours of hard work they put into making these programs fun for everyone. The Turf crew worked nonstop all weekend to keep the racing smooth and exciting, and the Oval crew absolutely nailed the track prep. The oval surface was perfect and made for some incredible racing all night long.
Special thanks to Brandon Dyche for handling Race Director duties on the Turf Track and Tyler Jones for running the Oval program. We appreciate every single person who helped prep tracks, marshal races, organize programs, answer questions, clean up, and keep everything running smoothly all weekend long. Events like this simply do not happen without dedicated volunteers and hardworking crews behind the scenes.
This community is something special. Thank you to everyone who came out, raced, helped, laughed, supported, and made memories with us this weekend. ❤️
