Just over a year ago, we turned the page on the floral design chapter of our lives. The past eight years had been a memorable run, and once the imposter syndrome wore off, we truly felt like florists.
But to be honest, when we looked at our careers with a hard eye, we had to admit that this experiment had run its course. There were parts about it we loved with our whole hearts—the flowers themselves and being creative. Everything else—we were ready to let it fall by the wayside. So we let it fall.
Now that the vases are (mostly) sold and donated and the dried flowers are (mostly) pulled from their pegs in the workshop, our feet are (mostly) back under us.
This mother-daughter duo has wandered separately into the following chapters of our lives. The mother half? Her hands are still full of flowers, but you’ll only be lucky enough to witness her work if she invites you into her yard. And the daughter half? Well, that’s me. I swapped the stems for pens, which was what my hands were meant to hold all along. Yes, I loved the flowers, but my whole life I’ve wanted to be a writer, so I am finally pursuing that dream.
Thank you for following along in this floral design adventure. I’d be honored if you’d follow me down my next rabbit trail. My new handle is .wordsuntamed where I plan share the details of my new creative venture. 💛
