Happy Monday Sioux Falls Airshow fans! It's not every day you get to see three Chinooks sitting on the ramp at Maverick Air Center! I couldn't convince them to stick around for Discover Aviation Day on Wednesday, August 6th. Maybe in 2026 for Power on the Prairie, July 18-19, 2026.

We’re bringing some serious character to Discover Aviation Day... literally!

⚫The 621st Detention Squad – 501st Legion is part of a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization that gives back in a big way. They’ll be visiting Discover Aviation Day for a limited time, so come early if you want to catch them! These expert costumers bring the Star Wars universe to life—whether it’s Stormtroopers, Sith Lords, or bounty hunters, you never know who might make an appearance 👀

👻 The Sioux Empire Ghostbusters are reporting for duty! With proton packs, full uniforms, and ghost-trap-ready charm, they’re rolling in to share smiles, support the community, and add to the fun.

Based in Tea, SD, this incredible group brings a collection of WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War-era aircraft to life—on display and under restoration at the Lincoln County Airport. These “Liaison Aircraft” played critical roles in communication, reconnaissance, and rescue during wartime.
