“When should we schedule sunset photos?”
One of the most common questions I get and for good reason. Sunset light is straight magic, but timing matters.

The simple answer:
Plan your sunset photos for about 20–30 minutes before the actual sunset time.

Why?
Because the best light usually happens before the sun fully disappears. That soft, glowy, flattering light starts earlier than most people expect and changes fast.

A quick breakdown:
• 20-30 minutes before sunset: soft, even, golden light (my favorite)
• Right at sunset: warm tones, sun kisses the horizon
• 10–20 minutes after sunset (dusk): dreamy skies, pastel colors, a little moodier (my second favorite)

If you wait to start until the sun is gone or at the exact moment it sets, you miss a big chunk of that glow.

The good news?
When I plan your timeline, I check sunset times, locations, and how the light hits that specific spot so we’re not guessing.
