As fun as it is to jet off to somewhere tropical hours after your reception, there are much better ways to vacation:

- For the adventurous couple: Why not go camping across the country? There are hundreds of state and national parks spread all over the US! Grab a tent, pack the car, lace up those hiking boots, and kick off one adventure with another!

- For the couple who likes the sunshine: There are cooler places than Florida, trust me. Peru, for example, has everything you could possibly hope for in a travel destination: rainforests, beaches, mountains, deserts, culture, religious and historical sites, you name it! It's hardly ever in someone's Top 10 desired travel destinations, but there is so much to do and see!

- For the traditionalists: You cannot go wrong with any southern European country. They are all stunning, warm, and full of life and activity! My personal favorite is Greece because the local ferries can take you from Greece to Italy and back!

- For the domestic travelers: Whether you're a stay-cationer or a try-new-things traveler, there are many cool places to visit right in our home country! Colorado, California, Alaska, and Hawaii are all popular local vacation spots.

- For the slow planners: There's a lot going on during the week of your wedding, so don't feel pressured to fly away as soon as you can. Latermoons are all the rage these days, and they give you time to adjust to your new married life and develop a routine before you head off on an adventure.

Don't get me wrong, I love some of these traditions. But it's time that the meaning behind them changes!! You shouldn't feel obligated to wear white. Have your father walk you down the aisle if it's important to you both. But don't fall victim to some of these ugly traditions because tHe wEdDiNg InDuStRy tells you to.
