A wedding reception only has so much time.

But there is another limited resource couples rarely think about:

guest attention.

Every toast, special dance, tradition, announcement, transition, and formal moment asks your guests to stop what they are doing and focus somewhere else.

That is not a bad thing.

Those moments can be some of the most meaningful parts of the entire wedding.

The problem comes when too many of them are stacked together simply because they are considered “traditional.”

Eventually, guests stop experiencing the reception and start waiting for the next thing to happen.

So when you build your timeline, don't only ask:

“Do we have time for this?”

Also ask:

“Is this moment important enough to spend part of our reception on?”
