The Unce-Unce of Mary, by Rachel Elizabeth Taylor
Digital collage, $40

Rachel Taylor is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is guided by curiosity, nostalgia, and the poetry hidden in ordinary moments. For more than sixteen years, she has created art professionally, beginning with photography and digital image editing before following her imagination into embroidery, watercolor and acrylic painting, paper crafting, digital collage, mixed media, and the timeless magic of cyanotype printing... until she finds a new favorite medium next week.

Her creative process is shaped by a mind that is forever weaving unlikely threads together—music becomes light, literature becomes texture, memories become color, and emotions find their way onto paper and canvas.

When she isn’t in the studio, Rachel can be found raising her two daughters and teaching preschool; two messy adventures that remind her daily that the world is at its most magical when we let our ideas wander, collide, and bloom into something unexpected.

Since beginning her career, Karen has received numerous honors for her artistic and cultural contributions. Awards include the Cultural Preservation Heritage Award in New Orleans (2017), the Artistic Merit Award at the Red River Revel (2017), the Shreveport Regional Arts Council Fellowship Award (2017), and the GUTS Award (2023) recognizing her impact on Shreveport’s arts community.
