Being in this industry for over 5 years now, my design style has changed drastically- and also for the better. I have always been one to design and never to duplicate, to curate and never to copy. But over the years, I have noticed that slight design choices make such an overall elevated impact.
And something that I have stopped implementing into my designs over the last year have been backdrop walls, focal walls, photo ops, whatever you want to call it. These tend to have sharp start and stop lines that feel disconnected from the rest of the design. We focus on highlighting an experience. Every moment should feel like a great photo op, it’s intentional and not obvious. It feels cohesive and creates a flow that doesn’t feel harsh. Each moment within your design should delicately transport you to the next, where it feels like you glide from one to the next.
Full draping from end to end and floor to ceiling gives height, elevation and cohesion. It completely transforms a space that you forget where you are. It flows- no harsh lines, no separation.
