Dear Engaged Couples,

Marry the person you still want to tell everything to.

The person you call with the good news.

The one who gets the ridiculous story that probably wasn’t even worth telling.

The one you can sit beside without saying anything at all.

Marriage is romantic love, yes. But after years of doing life together, friendship matters SO much.

Life changes. You change. There are busy seasons, stressful seasons and seasons when romance takes a little more intention.

But having your best friend beside you through all of it?

That is one of the greatest gifts of marriage.

Come stock the cottages with me for a pretty special week. 🤍

Every summer, Double D Ranch hosts Addiction right down the road in our hometown of Yoakum, Texas, bringing people from all over for a week full of shopping, events, parties and all things Double D.

And we have the privilege of hosting some of the owners, team and guests right here at the Half Moon Cottages.

Because they’re staying with us for an entire week, I add a few extra touches to make Half Moon feel a little more like home — extra drinks, snacks, fresh towels, a little HME swag and, of course, something sweet. 😉

The cottages may have been built with wedding weekends in mind, but getting to welcome people visiting our little corner of Texas has become one of my favorite parts of having them.

We put our wedding vendors on the spot… and they were NOT prepared to be on this side of the camera. 😂

Our wedding vendors are used to being behind the scenes — making you look your best, capturing your moments, keeping your timeline moving and making sure your wedding day feels exactly the way it should.

So when we turned the camera around at our Bridal Expo and asked them to give our brides their BEST advice… there may have been a few nervous laughs. 😂

But the advice was too good not to share.

🤍 And maybe the simplest advice of all: trust your coordinators.

These are the first three, but we put several of our vendors on the spot that day, so you’ll definitely be hearing more advice from the wedding pros on Half Moon Empire’s Preferred Vendor List.

Brides, save these tips. And vendors… consider this your warning that I may have a camera waiting for you next time. 😂

COTTAGE SERIES | WEEK TWO: THREE SONS 💙

This one had to be for our boys.

When we started dreaming up seven completely different cottage themes, we knew we wanted one that represented this season of our life😍raising three sons.

Bowen, Asher + Quinn have gotten to have a hand in choosing some of the pieces inside, and our hope is that this cottage keeps growing right along with them. Things they love now, things they’ll love later, and little pieces of their childhood tucked into the shelves over the years.

You’ll find Legos, games and plenty of reminders that this one belongs to the boys.

Because around here, we’re big believers in long live boyhood. 💙

And one day when they’re grown, I have a feeling this cottage is going to hold even more memories than it does now.

We love weddings. Obviously. We built an entire place around celebrating them. 😂

But as beautiful as your wedding day will be, we hope it’s never the best day of your marriage.

We hope there are better days ahead.

Days when you bring home your first baby. Days when you accomplish something you never thought you could. Ordinary nights sitting on the couch laughing until you cry. Vacations. Anniversaries. Hard seasons you make it through together. Sunday mornings. Family dinners. Growing older.

Plan the beautiful wedding.

But dream even bigger about the marriage that comes after it.

That’s the really good part. 🖤

Don’t rush this part.

It’s so easy during engagement to live in countdown mode. How many months until the wedding? How many things are left on the checklist? When will we finally get to say “I do”?

But this is part of your story too.

You only get to be engaged to each other once. Take the pictures. Go on dates where you don’t talk about the wedding. Dream about your future. Pray about the marriage you’re building while you plan the day that will celebrate it.

There is a season for everything.

And this one is worth enjoying. 🖤
