We hope you'll join us this Tuesday in Kinnison Hall at 7pm for a free concert by the Sheridan College Choirs, directed by Dr. Rob Psurny. This concert is a fundraiser for the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter - audience members can make cash or in-kind donations to support the shelter. Donations of pet supplies and cleaning items will be accepted at the event.

Items needed include dog and cat toys, collars, training treats, recovery cones, slow feeders, rabbit and guinea pig food, timothy hay, bedding, pillowcases, sheets, blankets (non-electric), and cleaning supplies such as gloves, bleach, sponges, and laundry soap. A full list of needed items is available at dogandcatshelter.org under the “Get Involved” tab.

In keeping with the theme, the concert will feature music inspired by animals of all kinds — including cats, dogs, birds, fish, and insects. The Sheridan College Chamber Choir will open the evening with Renaissance madrigals about crickets and swans. They’ll be joined by the Collegiate Chorale for “Counterpoint of the Animals” by Adriano Banchieri, a humorous piece featuring animals accompanying a monk as he writes.
Additional selections include “The Blue Bird” by Charles Stanford, Deke Sharon’s arrangement of the Beatles’ “Blackbird,” “Skylark” by Hoagy Carmichael, and “Bumble Bee” by Anders Edenroth. The Chamber Choir will also perform “Dr. Worm” by They Might Be Giants. A duet by students Lily Anderson and Aspen Hansen will precede performances of “Memory” from CATS, as well as “The Seal Lullaby” and Animal Crackers by Eric Whitacre.

This Thursday at 7pm in Kinnison Hall we have PRISM '25 featuring M.E.A.T. - Music Ensemble of Audio Technology, and the Sheridan College Chamber Choir. This free concert is a one-hour, multi-sensory experience that blends immersive sounds and visuals in a unique musical format that is sure to interest a wide variety of listeners.

Originating at the Eastman School of Music in 1975, prism concerts feature a variety of musical styles performed by different ensembles. Just as a prism splits light into a spectrum of colors, a prism concert offers audiences a wide-ranging and colorful listening experience.

This year’s program will include a student-arranged choral rendition of “Dr. Worm” by They Might Be Giants, performed by the Sheridan College Chamber Choir and directed by Dr. Robert Psurny. M.E.A.T., directed by Dr. Chris Erickson, will feature original compositions by students Lily Anderson and Sofia De Luca.

“The Prism concert is always a fascinating musical mashup,” said Erickson, “there’s something for everyone. We’ve received enthusiastic audience feedback every year and look forward to entertaining newcomers and returning attendees.”

Our Story

Whitney Center for the Arts is home to live performances, art exhibitions and Sheridan College music and art departments. As one of the most advanced arts education centers in the west, it features programs in music, music technology, painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking and digital media. The WCA opened in 2016, providing students and arts patrons across the Northern Rockies with a state-of-the-art space for fine and performing arts programs, and shows and performances by artists from around the world. The 54,000 square-foot facility features a 422-seat concert hall, the largest in the region, including a changeable proscenium stage, motorized fly system and hydraulically convertible orchestra pit. Two gallery spaces showcase work by students, faculty and traveling shows throughout the year.
