11,000+ followers on Facebook.
What?! 🤯‼️Long Post Alert
Last year, 5,300. At the beginning of this year, I was sitting around 8,300. I set a goal to hit 10,000 by the end of the year.
To pass that goal AND hit 11,000 before August is even over is wild.
And yes, a certain haircut video recently helped push me over the finish line. IYKYK. 😂
I went back and checked. I started this page in June of 2010.
For about 10 years, Scruff and I built Stovetop Productions together and cultivated a lot of the audience that’s still here today. I wouldn’t be where I am without him and the foundation we built together.
I’ve always enjoyed social media for the most part, but anyone who runs a business probably understands the cycle.
You post consistently.
You get burned out.
You wonder, “Does any of this even matter?”
You disappear for a week.
Then you start again.
I’ve always known social media was powerful, but only in the last couple years did the gears really start turning for me about what it could actually do for my business.
My friend DJ Nick Nystrom once said that for DJs, social media is our storefront.
That stuck with me.
Then in April 2025, I was at Midwest DJs Live when Nate Acosta challenged us to post consistently for 30 days.
I remember thinking…
What if I did it for a YEAR?
So I made a promise to myself to show up.
Have I literally posted every single day since then?
Nope. 😂
But I’ve posted most of them.
Some days it’s easy. Some days I spend WAY too long overthinking a 10 second video. Some days I don’t feel like posting anything.
But I keep showing up.
And people have noticed.
Facebook has grown from about 8,300 to more than 11,000 just this year.
Instagram, which I started from zero a few years ago, is around 3,700.
TikTok is over 3,000.
YouTube, which I JUST started by Shorts this year, is already around 2,300.
If you’re not following me on those platforms, holla at me. 😏😅
But the number that really breaks my brain…
8.7 MILLION views on Facebook alone. 🤯
Add in the millions of views across the other platforms, and somewhere between 20 and 25 MILLION views of my content have happened across the internet.
Seriously.
What?!
But here’s the part I think matters more.
I’ve booked events because of social media.
I’ve connected with DJs and people all over the world.
I’ve stayed connected with couples whose weddings I DJ’d years ago and am now seeing them post about their kids and other big life events.
I’ve met future brides and grooms.
I’ve heard from kids who remember me from their prom or school dance (AND done a bunch of THEIR weddings).
I’ve connected with parents, families, vendors, community members, friends, and complete strangers.
And it definitely hasn’t all been “viral.”
Even with 11,000 followers, I’ll make a post that gets three likes. 😂 THIS post may only get a handful of reactions. 🤷♂️
I’ve had more than 1,000 people UNFOLLOW this page just this year.
Sometimes people leave rude comments.
Sometimes I put way too much effort into something and basically nobody sees it.
That’s social media.
The algorithm does its thing.
I keep doing mine.
Because consistency isn’t really about making every post go viral.
It’s about showing up often enough that the right people eventually find you.
And somehow this weird little corner of the internet has turned into a community of people connected through weddings, proms, parties, families, friendships, and one thing that ties almost all of it together…
Music.
Humans have always found reasons to gather.
We celebrate.
We sing.
We dance.
We move together.
Music has this incredible ability to connect people who might otherwise have absolutely nothing in common.
Our hearts have beats for a reason. ❤️🎶
I don’t really know that I had some grand point when I started writing this.
I’m just grateful.
I’m proud.
And it’s really cool to see what can happen when you commit to showing up, even when you don’t always feel like it.
So I guess the point is simply…
