Enjoyed a great day with great friends and family. We watched the annual Niceville fireworks from Eglin's beach. It was great, but I had decided not to bring my camera gear. My Samsung S4 does NOT do the best job at capturing the beauty in each of these explosions, so I thought I would post some images that truly represent what these containers of explosive really look like when they explode high in the air. These images are from the 2012 Fort Walton Beach fireworks show at the Landing. I shot them from atop the Brooks Bridge.

I got up at 0300 Tuesday morning to watch the Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower. In order to get away from the city's light pollution, I decided to drive a mile south of Alamogordo, New Mexico, in the middle of a very dark ranch. As I got out of the car, I noticed the Milk Way off to my left. Because the meteor shower was a once in a lifetime event, I decided to dedicate my time trying to capture a time-lapse sequence of the meteor shower. I took one picture of the Milky Way before locking down my camera and tripod for the meteor shower. Just my luck, there was a locomotive with a very bright light headed my way under the dark sky. Luckily, the image turned out ok.
