We want to thank everyone who came out to the Shirah Brothers show yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. There was a really good crowd and all the comments during and afterwards were very positive. This was their first trip to Missouri and we were the show after their SDC debut. We believe they left with a good impression of our community, our theatre, and our area.

We would be remiss if we did not thank the lady that made this possible. Geraldine (Borders) Lee is a Seymour graduate and was an area resident until moving to Michigan with her husband. She put the Shirah Brothers in touch with us and we were able to find a schedule that worked. She was the show’s sponsor and the reason we were able to present it at no charge to our friends and patrons. She comes to town to visit on occasion and she maintains strong ties to this community. Thanks Geraldine Lee. We enjoyed it.

If you are trying to think of something to do tomorrow, we have a suggestion.

Get up, have breakfast and go to the church of your choice. After church, go home or out and have a bite of lunch. Around two o’clock go to the south side of the square at The Owen Theatre. Go in get a seat and prepare for about ninety minutes of great music with the Shirah Brothers (free) concert. Afterwards, maybe cruise their merch table d visit with friends and neighbors. Go home and have supper and maybe go back to an evening church service…….

As we said, just a suggestion. We would love to see you there!

We hope you have checked out Shirah Brothers page and perhaps some of their youtube videos as well. We are really looking forward to hearing them this next Sunday, August 25. The admission for this concert is…..FREE so we will open the doors at 2:00 Sunday afternoon and the music will commence at 3:00. we really hope you will make it a point to come out. They do not play in our area often and have never been to your local venue so do not miss this chance.

There are just four days between now and your chance to see The Shirah Brothers on Sunday, August 24. This will be a FREE CONCERT and will be a time of great music and worship. The doors will open at 2:00 PM and the show will commence at 3:00. It will be a great way to spend an afternoon between your morning and evening service.

This is your chance to see and hear a very talented Gospel trio in an intimate venue with great sound. They play literally all over but this is the first time they have come to our Seymour area. You do not want to miss this one.

This author is experiencing some internet difficulties but will post another sample of their music. It will be a good one!

We want to let you all know that we have had an addition to our schedule. On Sunday afternoon, August 24th we have added a show featuring Gospel music.

A past Seymour resident put us in touch with a gospel trio that has some family roots in this area but have never resided here. They are going to be in our area, and we thought this would be a great opportunity to bring some good gospel music to our friends here at the Owen.

They are the Shirah Brothers, and they are enjoyable! We will post a link or two so you can sample some of their music.

The show will be August 24. The music will begin at 3:00 PM and we will open the doors at 2:00. They typically play for an hour to an hour and a half. You will have time to have Sunday dinner, come to the show and hear some great Gospel music, and still have plenty of time to make it to your Sunday evening service.

Keep checking this page. We will post a link to some of their music as well as some promo materials.

Oh, did we mention that this will be a free concert? The aforementioned former Seymour resident is sponsoring this event in full.

We hope to see you there!

Also, if you would share this with all of your Facebook friends and help us spread the news.

We have entered the second part of our season and most of the schedule is set. We have an updated scheduled posted at The Owen in our marquis and also around town. There are some at The Citizen office so when you stop in for your paper or to visit, grab one. We still may add or possibly make a change due to scheduling conflicts or unseen circumstance but we will keep the schedules and you as up to date as we can. We appreciate all of you and hope to see you soon.

We would like to thank everyone who came out last night (Friday) for the Abundant Quartet show. They put on a show with some powerful music and those awesome Southern Gospel music. An appreciative and attentive crowd and all shared they had a great time. Fridays are not our normal concert nights and we had some confusing communication amongst ourselves so our promotion was not what it normally is but, point taken and we always say that everything is a teachable moment and we have learned something. So, any confusion regarding the date or the admission is on us and we apologize. Thank you all.

Sure many of you have seen that Larry Lee, one of the original Ozark Mountain Daredevils has passed. We are happy that we were able to host Larry and his friends, Emily Higgins and David Wilson. They played a few times as HigLeeWills and it was always a blast. Their songwriting chops were amazing and they were able to blend their three voices into beautiful hamonies. One of the songs that was guaranteed to bring down the house was when they would perform Larry's song Jackie Blue.

The second time they took the stage they had the stage set up to bring the vibe that they were playing in a living room. End table and a lamp, and a rug on the floor. What I was told was our stage might be a little too "boomy" for the fantastic single microphone they were using so Larry brought the rug. After the show, he said our stage was still a bit boomy and he gifted us the rug. It is still on the stage and is there for almost every one of our music stores. Along with him living a half-mile from my dad's home place, it is another reminder of our chance to listen and enjoy someone we believe is a national treasure.

RIP Larry Lee.........

Coming up this weekend. Dave Perryman and the Country Review will bring their show to the Owen stage. Dave and company have played all over the Ozarks and do covers of various country artists. They rented the Owen a year or so back and it was very successful so we decided to book them to do a show for us. They do a great show and are highly recommended for an evening of straight-up country music. Make plans to join us Saturday, May 17th for an evening of entertainment. The doors will open at 6:00 PM, tickets are $10, and we have concessions available.
