Sunday morning re-cap. Yesterday we worked with the team at Spice and Cleveland Botanical Gardens to create an elegant, elevated day for the couple. I’m always amazed how many people it takes to pull a wedding day off and everyone has to work together in the same space setting tables, building dance floors, arranging decor, stocking bars, hanging lights, testing sound, working really hard and doing it all for two people they’ve likely never met. What a testament to the cooperative nature of human beings. 🖤

The evening’s event at The Cleveland Botanical Garden, was an elegant affair with 350 candles! Yes, I assembled every candelabra, put batteries in every candle, and made all 42 floral centerpieces in 4 days. Thank goodness for my team of young adults who helped with delivery!

Honesty post: I love my job. Some days more than others like anyone, but when I think about doing something else for a living, it actually makes my heart ache. I’m not ready to call it a day. My books are nearly empty for 2027, but I’ll keeping putting myself out there and try to keep meeting more wonderful people who keep my business afloat. All I can do is keeping trying because if you stick me at a desk, I’ll wilt like an unprocessed hydrangea in the August heat; and if you don’t know what that means, you might need my help with your wedding. VALUE. I know I cant fight a generational market change, but damn I HATE being reduced to a short sighted and generic “price list.” Quality florals have value beyond price. Is the personality a match? You will work with this person for months and on the actual day. Does the florist use quality blooms from a reliable wholesaler, that are properly prepared for wedding work? It’s not just clip and stick. Do they understand your vision? Is their work something you want hanging in your dining room for 50+years? Do they know how best to maximize your budget and guide you through wants v needs? Will they show up no matter what? Do they have the experience to handle a variety of problems? Do they have relationships with other vendors that allow them to be helpful, and joyful during the wedding day? Have they proven themselves in the industry? VALUE.
