City of Sevierville Hosts Public Meeting on Old Knoxville Highway Improvements
5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the Sevierville Convention Center, 202 Gists Creek Road
The City of Sevierville will host a public meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 to present preliminary plans for proposed roadway improvements along two segments of Old Knoxville Highway. The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents, property owners, and stakeholders to review the project concepts, ask questions, and provide feedback.
The meeting will be held at the Sevierville Convention Center, 202 Gists Creek Road, beginning at 5:00 p.m. After a brief presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to review project information and speak with project representatives. The meeting is scheduled to end at 6:00 p.m., however staff will remain until all attendee questions are answered.
The proposed improvements are located along Old Knoxville Highway in two segments:
• South Segment: From West Main Street to south of Gists Creek Road
• North Segment: From Pheasant Ridge Road to south of Boyd’s Creek Highway
Currently, Old Knoxville Highway functions as a two-lane rural collector. The planned improvements are intended to enhance vehicle and pedestrian safety, improve traffic operations, and address geometric and operational deficiencies along the corridor.
Proposed improvements include roadway widening and realignment, addition of turn lanes, construction of a greenway and sidewalk along the south segment, replacement of the traffic signal at Old Knoxville Highway and West Main Street, replacement of the bridge over Gists Creek, and replacement of two golf cart tunnels near the golf course. The project is being funded by the City of Sevierville.
“These improvements are focused on improving safety and preparing this corridor to meet the future transportation needs of our community,” said Public Works Director Doug Tarwater. “We encourage residents to attend the meeting, review the plans, and share their input.”
In addition to the public meeting, the City has launched a project website where residents can review project information, view preliminary plans, and submit comments.
