Choosing your wedding planner is one of the most important decisions you’ll make in the entire planning process - so don’t be afraid to ask the right questions!

Here are a few to bring with you to those initial calls:
• What does your planning process actually look like from start to finish?
• How involved will you be on the wedding day?
• How do you communicate with clients and vendors (and how often)?
• Have you worked at our venue or with our vendor team before?
• How long have you been in business, and is this your only job?
• What happens if something unexpected comes up with vendors, or if you have a medical emergency?
• (and just for funsies) Why did you choose to become a wedding planner?

The goal isn’t just to find someone who can “do the job” - it’s to find someone you trust, feel comfortable with, and genuinely enjoy working with throughout this season. Curious about something and don't see it above? Ask away in the comments! I'm happy to spill the tea.

Mother’s Day feels different when you’re both a mom and a wedding planner. Raising three girls has made every mother-daughter moment on a wedding day feel even more meaningful to me. I'm definitely tearing up in the corner behind you when your mom is getting you into your dress!

Being surrounded by so many incredible moms in this industry and getting to witness that love on wedding days is something I never take for granted. And coming home to my own three girls after a wedding day with leftover flowers in hand (because I know they'll ask)? That’s the best part of all!

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms who raised us, the moms raising littles, and the moms showing up in every kind of way.

Sarah & Oliver’s day at Maple Grove Estate was just one of those weddings you don’t forget 🤍

The ceremony tucked into the trees, the soft florals lining the aisle, the calm, easy feeling from start to finish - it all came together so naturally.

Days like this are exactly why we love what we do 🥹

What your planner is actually doing on your wedding day…(it’s a lot more than you see)

Before you even arrive, we’ve already:
– confirmed every vendor’s arrival time
– walked the venue and finalized setup

While you’re getting ready, we’re:
– directing vendors + answering every question so you don’t have to
– overseeing setup (ceremony, reception, details)
– managing the timeline behind the scenes

Right before the ceremony:
– lining up your wedding party
– cueing music + coordinating with your officiant
– making sure everyone knows exactly where to be

During the day:
– keeping everything on time (without making it feel rushed)
– handling any issues before they ever reach you
– fluffing dresses, pinning boutonnieres, fixing anything that needs fixing

At the reception:
– coordinating entrances, dances, toasts
– communicating with catering + DJ/band
– adjusting the flow of the night in real time

And the goal behind all of it?
You don’t have to think about a single one of these things.

You get to be fully present.
Because a well-run wedding day doesn’t just happen!

A Building a wedding guest list always sounds simple…until you actually start writing the names down.

Between family expectations, plus-ones, coworkers, and childhood friends, the list can grow faster than couples expect. It’s one of the first places where couples really start to see how their priorities, venue capacity, and budget all connect.
That’s why I always encourage my couples to build their list thoughtfully from the start - so every seat at the table feels meaningful.
Pro Tip: Make lists separately, then come together and see which names were on both lists. Those guests definitely get an invitation! All other names are up for discussion.

And speaking of full guest lists…we have a beautiful week of celebrations ahead.

On Easter Sunday, we're reminded of the foundation that faith provides in every season of our lives - especially marriage!

Moments like this are some of the most meaningful parts of a wedding day. Surrounded by the people who love them most, Alexis and McKinley were prayed over by their friends and family as they stood before the cross and stepped into the covenant of marriage.

Faith is truly at the heart of what we do at Say Yes with Jess Weddings. We never take lightly the opportunity to witness two people commit their lives to one another before God.

Today we celebrate the hope, love, and promise that He represents. Happy Easter!

What is my favorite moment of the day as a planner? This right here…

It is and always will be the iconic final dress fluff! To me it’s a moment of joy, relief, excitement, fulfillment, and honor. It’s a final “thank you for trusting me with your day.” One last symbolic “We did it. Now go get married” silent conversation.

I owe my couples every bit of gratitude for this job, and I hope I’m still fluffing trains when I’m old and gray. 🫶

Full Planning, Partial Planning, and Month of Coordination…what’s the difference?

Not every couple needs the same level of support while planning their wedding - and that’s exactly why different planning packages exist.

Full Planning: Best for couples who want guidance from the very beginning. From building your entire vendor team to managing the design, budget, and timeline, we walk through the entire process together.

Partial Planning: You’ve already started planning but want a professional to help find the remaining vendors, refine the details, fill in the gaps, and make sure everything comes together beautifully.

Month-of Coordination: You‘ve planned the day, now it’s time to enjoy it. I step in during the final months to organize logistics, communicate with vendors, and ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day.

No matter what stage of the planning process you are in, the goal is simple: a wedding day where you can be fully present and celebrate this milestone moment. Ready to find the level of support that fits your wedding best? Inquire through the link in my bio.
