What’s for dinner?

Typically, I don’t eat on event days. At least, not until the last pan is packed up, the kitchen is clean, and we’re finally headed home. By then, I’m STARVING—and more often than I care to admit, that meant a stop at McDonald’s for a burger on the way home. 😂

Well…those days are over, so I’m having to get a little more creative with my after-event dinners!

Tonight, our lovely couple chose Seared Cod with White Wine Tomato Sauce for their menu, so I tucked away a couple pieces of cod to make myself dinner afterward.

I turned them into this absolutely delicious Lemon Turmeric Cod—wheat-free, dairy-free, made with real ingredients, and exactly what I needed after a long event day.

I think this new food journey may just turn into a weekly “What’s for Dinner?” series. 😊

Small Bites. BIG flavor!
Appetizers. Hors d’oeuvres. Small bites. Whatever you call them, they should be anything but boring.
At Gatlinburg Gourmet, we love creating appetizers that are just as memorable as the meal itself — unexpected flavors, beautiful presentation, and plenty of reasons to go back for “just one more.”
Because sometimes the smallest bites make the biggest impression. 😉

Well… it looks like I’m starting a whole new food journey. ❤️

For the last two years, I’ve struggled with difficulty eating. After an emergency surgery on my throat, months of medications, and trying to figure out what was going on, my doctor has now instructed me to completely eliminate wheat and cow’s dairy from my diet.

So, for someone who has spent most of her life cooking for everyone else, I’m now having to relearn how to cook for me.

I’m reading labels, paying much closer attention to what’s actually in my food, experimenting with new ingredients, and figuring out how to make the foods I love in a way that works for my body.

Is it a big change? Absolutely. Especially for a woman who firmly believes cheese should probably be its own food group. 😂🧀

But I’m hopeful that making these changes will finally bring some answers and some relief. And in the meantime, I get to do what I’ve always loved—learn, experiment, and cook. Just with a brand-new set of rules.

Here’s to learning new things…and figuring out how to make really good food without the wheat and dairy! ❤️

💍 WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY 💍

Don’t wait to book your caterer!

We’ve had several couples reach out recently about catering their September/October 2026 weddings — and unfortunately, our Fall calendar has been completely booked for months!!

So here’s our tip for couples planning ahead:

--- If you’re dreaming of a Fall 2027 wedding, now is the time to start booking your vendors.
--- Most vendors will have Spring 2027 dates are already filling as well.

In the Smoky Mountains, the most popular wedding dates — especially those beautiful spring and fall weekends — can book a year or more in advance.

You don’t have to have every little detail figured out before reaching out. Start with your date, approximate guest count, venue, and the kind of meal you’re envisioning. We can help you work through the rest.

Our 2026 catering calendar is fully booked, but we are currently booking 2027 weddings.

If Gatlinburg Gourmet is on your wedding wish list, don’t wait until everything else is finalized to give us a call. We’d hate to have to tell you your date is already gone!

To recap:
• Plan early.
• Book your must-have vendors.
• Then breathe a little easier knowing the big pieces are taken care of. ❤️

✨ VENUE SPOTLIGHT: 37 Oaks ✨

We recently had the opportunity to attend an open house at 37 Oaks, and what a beautiful addition to the Smoky Mountain wedding community!

From that gorgeous glass pavilion and all that natural light to the beautiful outdoor spaces, there is so much here for couples to fall in love with.

We’re also excited to welcome 37 Oaks as a Gatlinburg Gourmet Preferred Venue! 🤍

One of our favorite parts of working in the Smoky Mountains is getting to know the incredible venues and wedding professionals who help make each celebration special. Building those relationships means we know the spaces, understand how they function on event day, and can take even better care of our couples and their guests.

If you’re planning a Smoky Mountain wedding, 37 Oaks is definitely one to add to your venue-tour list!

We can’t wait to make some beautiful memories around the table here.

Wedding Tip Tuesday: 5 questions every couple should ask when booking a caterer

1. Is our date available on your calendar? (you'd be surprised how often couples assume)
2. What is included in your pricing?
3. Are you licensed and insured? (most venues require proof of insurance from the vendors that work on their property)
4. How many staff members will be onsite the day of our wedding? (this is important - a group of 100 guests needs more than just one person handling everything!)
5. Do you have different pricing for children? (many guests will want to bring their children and since kids don't eat as much, you may be able to save some money with child meal pricing)

Are there any questions you wished you had asked your wedding vendors? List them below!

Yesterday, I took a much-needed break to spend time with family and check out one of our community's newest gems—Once Upon a Bookstore!

If you haven't stopped by yet, you really should. The owners are incredibly kind, and the shop is absolutely charming. We also heard that a coffee shop is in the works, and let's just say... we'll be first in line when those doors open.

It's always a joy to see small businesses bringing something special to our community. Be sure to show them some love!
